Yeah...I think most of the researches are finding the excess amount of cheap compute on the market to be more appealing as it allows them a ton of control over the work and saves them a ton of man hours troubleshooting. Considering that most of the researchers make their salaries and careers from the grants most of the time...they will do whatever makes their job easier.
