Nvidia looked at the complete lack of available stock of the existing 5000 series cards and said "ok team, now's the time to launch our next card!".
Maybe, there is certainly some, come-on do not wait with any stock of working cards, put them on the market as soon as you can that could be going on.... That obviously a really good thing to do.

But even for an april launch, those card would have started to being made in january in the latest ? It take months (3-7 month ?) to manufactur a modern TSMC 4 gpu, tend you need to send it to AIBs for them to make cards with it, that a very long process overall.

If you sales a GPU in april lot of decision was made a long time ago, you could have pushed back but hard to make it significantly faster than the already planned quickest possible date.

X60 series have been pretty useless since the 2060 IMO.
And that’s only because NV pulled a fast one with the marketing name. The 2060 was the replacement for the 1070. The 1660 Ti was the 1060’s actual replacement. 1660 Ti was also the last time we got a decent card from NV for less than $300.

will be a return to share the 60ti die this time around at least, could make for an quite useless 5060ti 8gb (and we can expect a price tag that would turn the 5060ti 16gb useless...) with an useful 5060.

It would be possible to price the 5060 and the 5060ti 16gb into useful card if they are forced to.
 
I mean yes, do not buy a 5060 to play game in 4k native with very high setting, if that was possible what would be the point of a 5080 existing ?

Agreed. My post was half meant to be funny, but yes, I understand this is the case. Nvidia also needs to round their product stack so they can say they service all markets. Good luck to anyone who actually wants to buy one, though.

Bus width is the same, but the gddr7 is MUCH faster. These cards are seeing a healthy bandwidth boost. We'll see how they do soon enough, but bus width alone doesn't mean much.

~450 gb/s I doubt memory bandwidth will be an issue, that not far from 6800xt bandwidth (512 gb/s), eating die space for 256bits would probably make it slower overall.

the 5060 will have 25% more core than the 4060 and Blackwell tend to be around 14% faster with a similar die count no ? why 2% increase ? (the 5070 keep up with the 4070super, while the 4070super has 16.6% more cores)

The only thing I'm not happy with is 8GB. I know the realities are that as SOON as something has more than 16GB of VRAM it becomes a MUST HAVE for AI work, but in reality the X060 series should have been 16GB by now, and the higher tier cards should have been scaled up accordingly.

12GB is an issue in some games at high texture settings, I would think even at 1080p, an 8GB frame buffer is going to limit the card far more than core count or bus width.
 
X60 series have been pretty useless since the 2060 IMO.

I still have my RTX 2060 and ray tracing is weak af on it at launch. Decent frames with ray tracing turned off in most games though.

That being said I'm keeping the 2060 as hand me down to my children's PC build later this after I hopefully get my hands on a MSRP 5070 ti.

Lesson learned is wouldn't buy a x60 series new again for a serious gaming rig. I'd probably buy a newer x60 series used for my children's PC if they ever nag me about low FPS in gaming, lol.

My post was running with sarcasm. I'll believe the performance after the reviews come out. Mostly just miffed at the 5000 generation of performance and availability.
I have a 4060ti and it has suited its purpose well enough. It's just pricey for no more than it can do.

We will see what the reviews bring. I may have use for a 5060ti, but I'm not keeping my hopes up.

I doubt a 4060ti->5060ti upgrade will make sense, that seem to be the usual Blackwell ~20% upgrade, a 3060->5060/5060ti or just a 5060 for a new build, not an upgrade is what could be interesting to see.

The issue is here, I doubt will see a 12GB version and a good price for it at the same time, the 5050 could be to push the 5060/ti quite high in price.
 
Seems odd to "release" them this soon. Last generation it took them longer. Few people can get the 5080/5070ti/5070, so why bother "releasing" 5060s? Maybe just to have something that is, on paper, cheaper to compete with AMD's compelling options.
 
By the leaked numbers, the 5060 should be a pretty big upgrade over the 4060, and there should be less daylight between the 60 and 60 Ti than last gen. 8 GB is the fly in the ointment, of course. Just a wild guess, but I’m going to say they’ll target $250-270 with the 5050, $330 with the 5060, $400 with the 5060 Ti 8GB, and $500 with the 5060 Ti 16GB.

Oh no. No upgrades here. Strictly new build purposes. Like I need one, but my brother in law is PC poor so he may get an early Christmas.

And I bet you are spot on with the 5050 to bump prices.

This feel counterintuitive, why keep 5060-5060ti away from store in storage, because it is hard to get a 5070, would it not be a bigger motivation to launch them as fast as possible ?

On newegg 7600-4060 price seem to indicate they are not necessarily rushed, low end is getting empty as if those 9600-5060 were expected to launch soon.

There is $170 difference. They were priced as different tier cards.

9070xt -$599
5060ti - $429

It's no surprise amd would perform better.
Ya, big picture though,
9070XT your paying $4.87 per Average FPS
5060Ti your paying $5.64 per Average FPS

If that can even be used as math, so you pay more per average FPS on the 5060ti..

the 9070xt and non-xt stomp it in fake frames too...

if you want to compare "performance" tiers, the 9070 still embarrasses it and is even cheaper.

It's not strange at all. He made the video to show you what gaming performance you get for spending the same amount of money. That's actually a perfectly reasonable thing to do. The fact that you can get a card that much better for the same price is bonkers, but is a sign of the state of the market, where GPUs are now being targeted as AI first and gaming second. As gamers, these are not money making tools, they are pixel-pushers for a quicker FPS and that's about it. Different value proposition when it comes to deciding what to buy if you needed a card for gaming in the current marketplace.

Nvidia's feature set is a reasonably consideration to make when comparing cards of similar class and capability. The 9070XT doesn't even operate in the same area code as the 5060Ti. If this is a 9070XT vs 5070Ti in similar pricing, or with the 5070Ti a reasonable amount more expensive to account for Nvidia's benefits, then this is a completely different conversation. This isn't that.

I will say in the Canadian market, as of now, a few models of the 9070XT (Sapphire Pulse, XFX Quicksilver) remain the only MSRP options I can find for a decent gaming card. Even the 9060XT is laughably more expensive than it should be for reasons I can't explain. It's a weird state of affairs, but this comparison is absolutely appropriate given the current situation. The cheapest 5060Ti 16GB is about $74CAD less than the cheapest 9070XT, whereas the cheapest 5070Ti is almost $500CAD more.
