Yeah I remember going to trade shows with BBs. Once this BB was walking next to her exhibitor, who was a lot shorter than her and had his arm around her.

Lots of shows used BB to bring in people and keep them there through some meaningless spiel that was all empty content. IOW, the exhibitor needed these BB to get people into their booths. Total waste of people's time. People go to shows to learn, to network, to watch demos, etc. Save the gawking for the bar afterwards.

If you're so easily swayed and hypnotized by the female form, maybe you shouldn't be the one going to conventions and such. This is a personal problem, not a society problem.

Lots of people who don't like jobs still do them because they have bills to pay. I wouldn't work at all if I didn't have bills to pay. Doing a job doesn't mean you like doing that job. That's only possible when you have options besides no job at all. Many people do crappy jobs in the hope that it'll turn into something better later. Models do crappy jobs like conventions because they hope that eventually they'll get a far better job down the road. The end goal is not being ogled by nerds and having to take pictures with them. If you think any of them are enjoying that job you're dreaming.

Lies? You think they enjoy standing around in heels all day being drooled over by people at a convention? They enjoy being able to pay their bills. The job is a means to an end. Yes, they chose to be there but choosing to be there doesn't automatically means they enjoy the job. Do you think people working at WalMart enjoy it? Hell no. Ask most of them and the answer is simple ... I have bills to pay. Choice does not equal enjoying the job.

If banning BBs was the right thing to do then surely banning all jobs that are unpleasant is also the right thing to do.

I replied to someone saying they "looked happy". That's it. I didn't make any statements about whether or not it was the right thing to get rid of them. Go back and look.

We used to say the same thing about fast food jobs, but now there's people who complain they can't raise a family on McDonald burger flipper pay.

I don't care one way or the other. It doesn't affect me so really don't give a shit about it. The only place I find the whole "booth babe" phenomena annoying is car and motorcycle shows. They block my view of the bikes, dammit, get off the thing. When I was in my teens and 20's I'm sure I just saw boobies and got happy but at this stage I just want to see bikes and cars and anyone standing between me and the bike/car is just annoying. If I want to look at scantily clad or naked women I'll go to a strip club.

Still don’t see how they compare. You can make a career working for a fast food chain. Even if someone wanted to, you can’t make a career out of being a booth babe. It’s a limited time engagement.

I will say this, in my industry, booth babes at trade shows was fading out as a phenomenon anyway, no one needed to ban them, they just weren’t part of doing business any more. This is based on attending and exhibiting at the main industry trade show since the mid 90’s. Of course you still had a few holdouts- some of them were pretty notorious for the booth babes. But I think people started to realize that the companies focused on the booth babes did that as a distraction because their products just weren’t that great or they weren’t as professional.

And as an exhibitor you get to be on the floor before and after the shows and trust me, the girls weren’t raving about the good time they had, it was more like “Let’s get the fuck out of here” and “did you see that one guy!? He kept touching me, he was so gross”. I’m not saying every girl hated the gig but plenty of them would rather not be cozying up to some stranger so he can get a photo to show his buddies when he gets home.

Booth & motorsports models still can go year round if they're attending as many as possible. I know they do that in Japan & Korea a lot.

Who knew 25 years would be too short? When I set that up, 25 years was the longest period of time the software would allow me to define.
