The more you look the more you find. This is the label from the youtube posted upthread:

This is the label from one of my ebay units:

If you look sharp you can see the ebay label has a wider spacing between words. What originally caught my eye was that diagonal of spaces as indicated by the red arrow. You can also see this in the scale pics. The presumably real label does not have that. And if you look the blank spacing between words is much smaller on the original.

The VIETNAM S/N spacing is also different as is the spacing around the QR label. Once you see it, you can't unsee it, it's all over the label.

The Ebay units certainly look like counterfeits.
 
I got them more for the utility of multiple USB outlets and styles. When it comes to charging laptops and high power I stick with name brands like Anker and usually try to get ones that use GaN technology.

For these I got 2 and stuck them on the backups for my servers. Then if I need to power a USB monitor or NanoKVM's or other USB powered accessories I have some free outlets available. My expectations were low, so I am ok with it.

Same here. I don't have any that have two USB-C ports...
 
I mean mine showed up today, and yeah the box is completely suspect with the exact same serials as above, and the hologram sticker that says "Original" is a dead giveaway... but that said, I plugged my phone in and it negotiated super fast charging 2.0 and it seems to be doing it. So how much should, not that I really want to use that for my phone, care that it's counterfeit if it does what it advertises? It's not like the plethora of 12-15W chargers I have sitting around "top tier" brands.

A bad charger or a charger going bad can blow up the devices connected. Especially with USB-C.

Mine will arrive soon, we'll see.
 
Will assume mine is counterfeit but still surprised the one port charges a 65w capable phone so fast. Maybe 25w charges that phone faster than i thought it would?

And as i said, my charger barely warms up at all, hopefully that's a good sign.

I won't purchase any more of them though thanks to everyone's due dilligence here!
 
Find it odd they they go through the trouble that they put unique, at least based on what I've seen here, serial numbers on the chargers themselves but then go cheap with identical stickers on the boxes. Perhaps they're remaking the African market ones into US chargers?

The charge will get slower as the battery gets closer to full. You will see the biggest impact from 45w-65w charging when you are starting with a battery that is nearly empty. If your battery already has a partial charge, it might not actually need more than 25w.

This is an example of what 45W "Super Fast Charging 2.0" (Samsung) looks like from 0% to 100% (using a real charger).

Is there any chance a shady power adapter like this can carry malware? I mean, if they're willing to go to such great lengths, why stop? Could it carry a trojan?

The little Baseus 45W cubes linked earlier in the thread. Wide device compatibility, small enough to not block multiple AC outlets, and they can actually sustain their rated power.
 
True, to some extent. But still, I would hazard to guess that charger bought at best buy, or even amazon basics would be (hopefully) of better quality than some very inexpensive alternative from ebay seller.
 
I'm headed out in a couple of days for a trip and just bought the 65w Anker charger for $24 last week. I needed one since i usually don't charge from chargers and it might be handy to be able to charge quickly and multiple devices. I don't trust cheap chargers or too good to be true deals.

Yes, I typically slow charge with a USB-c cable plugged into my computer. It slow charges but that's typically better for the battery and I rarely need to charge anything fast anyway.

Eh... I'm not so sure about that, I would say most of the rando-brands sold on Amazon are quite sketchy, fly by night companies who can easily cut ties with Bestus brand and become NeoBest brand the minute any bad press is pushed their way. And Best Buy is kind of falling down that rabbit hole that Walmart has done where they allow third parties to sell via their platform too. Amazon Basics might be a bit better, but there's a lot of garbage they put out too.

Now that said, a quick look at what SmokeRngs said seeing that Anker charger for $24 that essentially is the same thing... yeah, I think I'll definitely do that and return the counterfeit goods. Twice as much sure, but geezus, it's like 12 bucks more, and I'm not so hard up for cash.
 
Stfuphysics, you may be right about quality of goods, but the saving grace in my opinion is the ability to pursue some sort of claim process, because best buy itself has physical presence nearby, and in anerica. You have a number to call and push it up the chain of command.

On the other hand, if an ebay 'samsung' phone charger decides to send 110v through usb port into the phone for no reason, your best bet may be, at most, get some sort of $15 refund through ebay claim, because by then, an actual seller will be long gone, and selling same stuff under a different name few days later.
 
I get what you're saying, but the same mechanisms that shield ebay from claims of things sold on their site are not their responsibility, I'm sure Best Buy would have similar protections in place, after all never heard of someone having an item short out and cause a fire or hell just any damage at all and Best Buy or Amazon paying up for damages. And even of they would, the amount of effort you'd need to go through to prove it was in fact a shoddy item would probably dwarf the value of a phone. Just as an example, the whole Taylor Farms lettuce thing giving a chunk of the country ass COVID with explosive diarrhea... absolutely none of the super markets or stores who sold that product are responsible the outcome, it's the company who sold the product and that's it.
 
I received my pair.

The charger, but not the cable, is identical to a charger I picked up for $20 some time earlier.

I think I'll give them a try with a cheaper device and a power meter. Careful goes the cat.
