Hi all,

With the Summer quickly approaching, I'll have a little more time to play some games. I love Star Wars and definitely want to play some Star Wars games.

My all time favorite:

X-Wing for DOS
Tie Fighter for DOS
X-Wing vs Tie Fighter for DOS
Wing Commander: Privateer (yeah, I know it's not SW) for DOS

I have a decent PC and also have an Xbox One. I can play on either/or. Whatever is cheaper

I heard Jedi Fallen Order is pretty good and looks to be on sale. $22 for Xbox and $14 for PC.

Thanks!!! I've been out of gaming for a while, other than TeamFortress

It is fantastic, though it is not a ship-shooter like all your favs so just be aware of that. There is no space combat, it is all ground based light saber combat. That said it is a lot of fun, good controls, and a very good story. I highly recommend and its sequel Jedi Survivor to people in to Star Wars.

I have always skipped Star Wars games. This is because I have always had this impression that Star Wars games are just there to milk the Star Wars fanbase, but they lack any real solid gameplay. Id like someone to enlighten me. Are there any Star Wars games that are really worth playing if you don’t have a particularly strong connection with the series?

KOTOR and KOTOR 2.

Actually, they are usually good. They are one of my exceptions to the general rule of "Any game based on a movie sucks until proven otherwise." Not that there haven't been some bad ones, but by and large the Star Wars games have been really good over a wide variety of genres.

There has been some titles that are so so, milking the IP, but generally the quality of Star Wars games overall has been good and there are some amazing classics as well. Star Wars has had some of the best games for their time, not just for movie tie ins, but in general. The older X-Wing and Tie fighter games are some of the best space combat sim games. Kotor and Kotor II are amazing RPGs and Jedi Fallen Order and Jedi Survivor are great games as well.

Kotor was great
I liked the recent jedi series
Squadrons wasn't my thing, but the space sim aspect was great. I just sucked at it. Ha

If you can get it super cheap, outlaws is a recent entry everyone loves to hate on, but I thought it was worth the $10 or so I spent on it.

EA's Battlefront 2 is still gorgeous, plays great, and has a healthy playerbase on PC.

Since you loved DOS classics like TIE Fighter and Privateer, you should definitely check out Star Wars: Squadrons. It’s basically the closest modern thing to those classic space dogfights, and it goes on deep sales quite often. If you want something with a killer story and RPG depth, KOTOR 1 and 2 are absolute must-plays, even today. Also, if you ever want to step slightly outside the SW universe but keep that futuristic, space-ninja vibe, I’d highly recommend Warframe or EVE Online. Just a heads-up on Warframe: the game is massive and has a pretty steep learning curve. When I first launched it, I was completely lost with all the crafting and leveling mechanics. I had to spend a ton of time watching YouTube and reading guides by the way, skycoach has some really solid ones for this game. Just to figure out how to mod my gear and start progressing properly instead of playing blind. But once you get the hang of it, the combat and parkour are incredibly addictive. As for EVE Online, it's great if you want to pilot ships, but it's basically a full-time job due to its economy and politics.

Jedi Knight Dark Forces 2, Jedi Knight Outcast, Jedi Knight Academy

Kotor 1 (never finished 2)

Star Wars Rebellion (4x game)

Xwing/Xwing Alliance

Kotor is great, but the beginning is a bit of a slog. Wouldn't be so bad if it didn't feel like you were constantly back-tracking. Also can be a bit buggy, so save frequently.

The second one is supposedly better. I played a little, but stopped for some reason...maybe because I still need to beat the first. XD

Wow that is a honking big series of mods. Looks interesting, though.

That...is...intriguing, and I didn't want to play Starfield at all.

Genesis changes just about everything in Starfield and is worth every second downloading and installing. Install through Wabbajack and be prepared to be impressed. I certainly was.

Same here. Didn't really have Starfield on the short list. Various reasons. Now, though...

Was glancing earlier, and the guy maintaining the list recommends an 80 GB page file? Surely that can't be right. How was your experience as far as performance?

Also, for OP even though the thread is a few months old:
Shadows of the Empire, maybe. Not sure if it holds up now, but I remember it as a pretty cool N64 game. Apparently has a PC port on GOG, which I never knew until recently. Tried it out, PC controls are about as horrible as one would expect from the mid-90s before standardized, modern keyboard/mouse bindings. Probably just use an emulator and a controller.
