Microsoft quietly extends free Windows 10 ESU support to October 2027

The Windows 10 ESU program has always been a 3-year program, running through 2028. The only real variable has been the "price". They were giving out the first year of ESU updates for free under certain conditions, and it seems like now they are doing the same for year two. But there have always been fairly simple and straight-forward ways to get all three years of ESU updates for free, if you wanted.

Was this really the only thing preventing you from using those laptops already? Even though there have already been ways to get all 3 years of ESU updates for free, or alternatively upgrade to Windows 11 for free (even on unsupported hardware)?

Yeah that's ... weird. Also Linux. There's many ways to revive old hardware.

Nah, I just didn't think they would be able to run Windows 10 with their specs but now I will experiment.

Unless my memory is playing games with me, no one claimed that for ME, Vista or 8 when XP, 7 and 10 came around, respectively.

I saw plenty of people for all of them over time. Heck, tons of people flamed xp for being "fisher price child colors" and claimed they'd never move from 98/2000. I saw no need for Win7 as vista was great by the time it rolled around, myself (Win7 was essentially a service pack).

I guess it depends on who you talked to and where you hung out online,, but there were plenty of people doing the exact same thing I described for every version :).

BUT! Eventually on windows XP 64 bit pro Service pack 3 was able to get boot to desk top down to ONLY 98 Megabytes of RAM Use. That was the last instance I remember that seemed great/clean for the time.

Now since im not super elite into the back end coding of windows OS or cyber security I don't know how many holes it had even for 2007 or whenever service pack 3 was finalized for it.

Still that is my last positive nostalgia for windows!
