For all the operating systems you use (Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, etc.) do you usually use Light mode or Dark mode? I always used Light mode but then started using Dark mode for a while then back to Light mode. Trying to decide which I like better. I read it is easier to read dark text on a white background than light text on a dark background. Is this true?

I like dark mode on my phone, but light mode for my desktop. I only have one light in the room (and I use a large TV as my monitor) so it essentially doubles as a light source. Well, that and it's not like most websites don't use a white background, too.

Always dark mode for any OS (also forced in dev settings for Android). On my phone, I set apps for OLED Dark mode or theme to get deeper blacks. With Android Auto, I have it on auto mode since I find the map a bit too dark at times depending on the lighting.

I find it significantly easier to read with dark mode with everything no matter the time of day. I'm already sensitive to blue & bright light, so I definitely prefer dark mode no matter what.

Desktop leans towards a dark theme, but I rarely use in total darkness so it's not completely blacked out like every other device I use. Those are as dark as they get. I stopped rooting my Android once it became a factory option as that was basically all I did when rooting or jailbreaking before.

Dark mode. I don't need to be blinded by eye searing bright colors as the primary color on the screen.

White background with black or other colored text is hard on the eyes and causes eye strain; it's also more difficult to read which is one cause of the eye strain. This is a remnant of printing. It's much more economically feasible to use light colored paper and print black text on it. Due to inertia this is how GUIs were developed. It makes much more sense to have dark backgrounds and lighter colored text. It's easier to read and causes much less strain on the eyes. For best results a very dark gray background with off-white text tends to be the easiest on the eyes.

There's a reason Kyle setup the forum coloring (and the [H]ard|OCP site) the way it is. It's not eye searing when in a dark room and it's much easier on the eyes.

Light mode is a terrible option for almost everyone. It's like having to fix or troubleshoot someone's phone who has the brightness turned up to the max at all times. It blinding and tends to cause headaches.

Dark mode, 6-10 pt font size, or 12 if it's a particularly bad font. If other people can read text on my screen, it's not small enough.

Dark mode for almost everything, I use light mode for Windows settings since dark mode looked weird for me.

This for me as well

If I use Dark Mode on either my phone or Windows I get really bad side effects from the lack of light from home devices. Its enemic light coming from them. Hard forums theme is ok everything else just messes with me that and that blue light reduction gimmick. Night Light

I just use dark mode in all settings. My wife thinks that white letter on black background is harder to read, so she hates dark mode.
