God of War Ragnarök (Confirmed)

I did all the side quests because I'm a completionist. Honestly though, it was only a few quests that were annoying, though some things did get a bit repetitive. I really enjoyed the lore and the environments and everything. I've been playing God of War since it first came out. I kind of miss how it used to be, but the new direction is still very cool. The final boss fight was bananas. Some of the fighting mechanic changes I didn't like, but some things felt more polished. I still like the sequel better overall.

Did you do all the Crucible Trials?
Nah, I didn't 100% the game. But yes, I did do some early trials if I remember correctly. Been a while since I played it on PS5.

God of War 20th Anniversary- Dark Odyssey Collection

https://blog.playstation.com/2025/0...-god-of-war-ragnarok-dark-odyssey-collection/

As a gift to everyone who owns God of War Ragnarök, on March 20th we will be releasing an update for all players on PlayStation and PC that includes the Dark Odyssey collection at no additional cost...inspired by the working name of God of War (2005) and the skin that originally appeared in God of War II as a reward for beating the game on God Mode difficulty, we are bringing the classic black and gold theme for the 20th anniversary

Once the update is live, you’ll be able access the collection below from any Lost Items chest in the base game or automatically while in Valhalla...

This games crashes multiple times a day. wtf? I have never had a game that crashes this bad after release. It's always the same error (attached)

The AMD drivers are up to date. I even did a DDU/Factory reset on them. The gpu (sapphire 7900xtx) is not overheating its sitting pretty at 70C. No overclocks/tunes to the system besides fan curve. My pc is in my sig, rock stable for any other game

Did you switch from an Nvidia card? If so, try running both of these and re-installing drivers:
https://developer.nvidia.com/cleanup-tool
https://www.amd.com/en/resources/support-articles/faqs/GPU-601.html

If you're just running AMD cards, just run the AMD cleanup utility and reinstall. I've had mixed results with DDU, this process tends to work much better. I have no had crashing on a 6800 xt and 9070 xt, not sure about the 7900 XTX.

I haven't had an nvidia card in my main box in a while. even so, this is a new drive that i did a wipe on a bit ago. Steam forums said try the beta build, if not, ill try the cleanup util.

No issues on my end with crashing. Was quite a stable game and ran well overall. I actually preferred this over the last game, though IMO the combat seemed to be simplified a bit.

It can be simple or it can be very complex. They made combat more accessible on the low end, but you can also make it comically difficult if you want.

I've put 10 hours into it so far and have had 0 crashes with a 7900XT on Linux. Game runs and looks great. I'm not sure I like it more than the last game but it's still a great experience.

No crashes since going into beta mode, but we shall see. Running on ultra settings, native, getting around 100+ fps at 1440

I'm on the latest, which is 25.3.2
3.2?! missed that one... can always try going back, i had zero issues with 25.1.1. there are also a bunch of crash notes for that .2 version, did you eliminate their sources, like multiple high hz monitors etc etc?

Correct. I only have one high hz monitor. I did turn off the in-game overlay. wonder if that helps

FUCK. So i had 2 great sessions today with no crashes. I'm now facing off against The Maven who is a huge cunt and keeps killing me. I finally learn her patterns and i'm doing really well and wtf happens? fucking crash. this is with overlay off too

Which brand and model XTX?

I've seen people fix XTX crashing by making sure all power connections have their own connection from the PSU. No daisy chains.

And/or going into the AMD GPU control panel, limit the boost clock to 2300, max.

2300 is AMD's advertised reference "game" boost speed.

If that stabilizes it, you can try increasing to 2500. Which is AMD's reference "max" boost.

Basically, some XTX which boost higher towards 3GHZ, are unstable.

hmmm maybe you are on to something. I have a sapphire nitro+ 7900xtx, which has clocks listed between 2119 and 2680. God of war crashed this morning, I immediatley alt-tab to the drivers to see clocks, and this fucker is 3000+. fuck me rite? So I limit it to 2500 mhz and voltage from 1150 to 1125mv.

thus far, no crashes, but I say that daily. we shall see

ok so with God of War profile (not global profile) set to 2500 mhz, and voltage set to 1125 instead of default 1150, it just froze. Steam overlay is off too.

I would try it without the undervolt, which is just putting an extra question mark on stability. And try 2300 like I said.

However, in the end, it may be grounds to RMA.

Also, one poster said that his system eventually crashed, despite setting the limits. And hardware info reported 3.2ghz on his XTX.

So, maybe try limiting gpu clocks with afterburner.

So limiting the clocks worked. It was trying to boost up to 3000 mhz and game was crashing. No crashes since.

I beat the main story and mostly all side quests. The only things left are the berserker king, Valkyrie gna, and that hidden fury centaur who likes to attack and then bail. I killed the hidden dragons and hidden stone trolls, not sure how many more hidden things are.

I'm taking a breather and doing Valhalla now. At first I hated it bc it was super difficult (I'm not on show me mastery, I'm on the one just below it. 4/5 hardness level). But if you stick with it, it gets awesome. I'm routinely making it to Tyr and I'm never dieing before hand. I just wish it wasn't such a grind to spec out your character when I ALREADY DID THIS in the main game

I just don't like the idea of repeating the same basic levels over and over again. I did 4 runs I think, and I had to quit partway through, so 4 1/2 runs. If you need to exit it doesn't restart the current stage, but restarts from the very beginning which is just stupid. Tyr got difficult in the last run and I decided I was just not doing to finish it. Think I had 1 run left. Watched the ending cutscene on Youtube.

Otherwise a good game, I preferred it to the previous one.

...and now I wish I had picked up a PS5 Pro before the price hike but that was before they announced no more PC ports. Fuckers.

Sucks, but I don’t blame Sony for reversing course given that they still want to be a console manufacturer. No point in buying a PlayStation if I can play the games on my PC. However, it is a good time for them to make this move given how the home PC is dying. Once my 4080 becomes irrelevant I’m not building another PC and may look at a PlayStation.

just a year or so back the PC market was thriving and in a major upswing...now the memory pricing issues have killed it...maybe this was the excuse Nvidia needed to completely abandon the PC market and move exclusively to AI chips

We'll see how this sells long term. I feel like it won't do as well as the last two GoW games and continue the downward trend of sales for Sony's SP games.

New one is gonna sell like crazy just because it's GOW. but I'd rather it go back to the original 3 game style.

the next God of War game was officially announced...it's a PS5 exclusive as Sony is not doing any more PC ports...the prequel game follows Kratos’ wife, whose death spurred on the events of the 2018 reboot...
