I guess Creative is updating their entire line launched in Europe nothing about a US launch.

I still have a few of the older AE-5 Plus. 32bit/384kHz is nice and all, but only listening to some high-def music, but some other DAC's are better (and cheaper). Most games only support 24bit/128kHz. It's annoying to have to switch from high-def to mid-def.

like most people can even hear the difference...
good option if you insist on internal or need the connections i guess. i still prefer to use hdmi to a receiver for atmos/dtsx....

I just got another AE-9 the other day. The meaningful differences is like the AE-7, it doesn't need the six pin molex which draws 80 watts from your power supply for the amp in the audio control module like the AE-9. The DAC chip is a good one, the low power version of the 9039Pro which I have in my Loxjie D40Pro. Well implemented it'll sound terrific with a filter with no pre ringing. The don't give power specs at Creative, but if it's the same as the AE-7 I've had a few times, the Beyerdynamic DT880 600ohm are well powered if it's got 2.5volts or better. The noise those cards pick up while gaming in a powerful system full tilt is the only problem. Real quiet would be a Fosi Audio DS3 with a JDS Synapse Max, which work really well together for a completely silent noise floor to hear footsteps.Even with noisy USB ports, you'll hear a pin drop from 30 yards in game with good IEMs or headphones. I've used RCA outs on the AE-9, and the ones on that are going to be noisy when the video card is under load.

Creative has them in stocks US site I'm worried about early adapter woes I'll wait for Reviews on Amazon.

The only way I would buy a new sound card is if it had 5.1/7.1 analog. Otherwise I don't really see the point. Wouldn't people who do audio work use something more industry-standard? Like who is this for? Doesn't seem to be for gamers.

I used to run internal sound blaster's exclusively for years. Now I use one of their external DACs. With no more hardware accelerated audio I don't understand why an internal card is advantageous anymore.

More/different outputs (if your board is limited), maybe special codecs, maybe hardware filters that you like? Do they support higher bitrate/samples? That would be a big deal if you are mixing audio in a professional setting.

Edit: over an external device, I guess the biggest advantage is less clutter on the table, which might already be crowded with audio gear if you are doing production type stuff.

I owned the AE-5 for awhile but returned it.. The software was just so bad to the point it wasnt even worth using.. Card sounded great tho. Just been using onboard audio.. Honestly its fine... Nothing i do on my PC has high quality audio to even matter...

yeah all my desktop does is gaming. So I guess if audio is a focus that makes sense.

I know Linux isn't officially supported for this card, but I'm curious if runs well with the right drivers.

I'm still waiting for the typical reviews on Amazon the AE-7 has some reviews where their entire PC crashes on install if that happens I want nothing to do with this card.
Plus it will blocks the fans on my GPU which are needed unless I mount the GPU it upright or something.
