5800X3D gaming review

I want one of these when I build a new rig in a couple of years (~3 or so) and retire my 5950x rig to HTPC/living room game only duty - wonder if this will keep prices elevated or drop the price from amount of supply by then? Also depends on if PC component pricing has come down by then too I suppose. Normies can't be wanting this still when the 11xx/13xx series are out by then, right?
I’m starting to see “reviews” of Chinese DDR4 kits and they are sub $50 in some cases.
They are appearing adequate….
I mean it’s DDR4, not exactly groundbreaking stuff…

Yeah but AMD would like and could use money - so are these launching (again) at original MSRP or discounted?

Who knows..... They are talking about the CPU coming in a commemorative box with decorative artwork...
For all I know, AMD is going to charge original MSRP + inflation + $50, because AMD never misses an opportunity to miss their opportunity.

Honestly, if these are affordable I might consider it. I had held off on upgrading to AM5 when it first launched because of DDR5 prices. Hahahaha, whoops.
Actually, what the hell am I thinking, I do 99% of my gaming on steam deck.

Yup, that is all this is about.. they know people are still out there building AM4 builds as there are still AM4 motherboards in the retail channels.
Have a feeling these will be priced "not budget friendly"

Heck with it! Lets bring back the FX-8320

It will probably be like 300 bucks or more and at that price an AM5 bundle for 350-400 is a better deal. We shall see.

Hopefully supply is good so these don't drift into that makes zero sense pricing.

I will for sure grab one if I can get one at a reasonable spend.

do not show up on pcpartpicker and used on ebay.com they tend to still go around MSRP
A quick Google search shows $260 at newegg. I get your point though, its only existing stock that is out there and every purchase makes it dwindle more

AMD to Re-Launch 8-Core/16-Thread Zen 3-Based Ryzen 7 5800X3D Processor In Q2 2026 As it Completes 10-Years of AM4 Launch

We have awesome news for you guys! AMD is reportedly bringing the most popular Ryzen 5000 processor to the market. After discontinuing it last year, AMD is now re-launching the Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor very soon, and the timing couldn't be better. AMD's Ryzen 7 5800X3D launched in April 2022 as the first X3D processor, featuring the 3D V-Cache technology.

spotted by @9550pro, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D is set to launch in Q2 2026, and is part of AMD's AM4 10-year anniversary

This CPU (and AM4 platform really) is has now reached biblical status. 😆

I gave mine to my son along with the 64GBs of 3600 MHz RAM when I upgraded to AM5 last year right before the RAMpocolypes. I told him a couple weeks ago that his rig is worth about as much as I paid for mine last year and he better appreciate it, lol.

I would like to have one for my old AM4 build, my best deal was my 7700x and Warhammer game for $210

I didn't even knew they stopped selling these. For me it's effectively still my "new CPU" it seems like I just bought it yesterday for my main PC.

this is tsmc 7nm
& the i/o chiplet is globaldoundries 12nm or 14nm I think

Isn't the original that too? So it's identical.
yes. the same. I believe AMD had a defined contract with global foundries for supply

which means these io chips could have been manufactured long ago !?

I think this is a great idea. AM4 is still a great platform on the B550 chipset, if you're lucky enough to have an X570 chipset with fast DDR4 it's even better. Upgrade your lower spec Zen 3 to a 5900x3d and you've got a pretty stout system for the $$ spent.
