The [H]ardForum Perpetual Freebies Thread

Note that there are two kinds of Logitech receivers: one with the "unifying" star shaped symbol and one that is labeled "nano receiver." I could use a couple of Logitech receivers (one of each) if you have any to spare for an MK270 wireless keyboard and mouse combo. It is unclear whether older variants of the MK270 take the unifying receiver or nano receiver.
Oh I see this - the dongles with either a thin red or white band. So Red is a Nano receiver, while White is a Unifying receiver?

Actually, it appears this is not always the case. In the picture, you have four red bands and three white bands. However, one of the white bands have a part number that ends in "U0007" while the other two end in "U0008." One of the red bands even ends in "CUU10," which is confusing. I think the best way to tell is by the six pointed star symbol, which means unifying receiver.

It's so confusing that even some variants of the MK270 take unifying (like LFaWolf mentioned), but others take nano: https://www.reddit.com/r/logitech/comments/118dtzw/is_mk270_compatible_with_the_unifying_receiver/ .

Update: These are all claimed! >> https://hardforum.com/threads/the-h-ardforum-perpetual-freebies-thread.1275498/post-1046302133

Well, I'll number them in this order and then people will have to take their picks:
#3 is the only one that says "JNZCU0010 / 4418A-CU0010"

Yeah I'm looking at the order of my DM's and when I got them, sorry, I gotta give dibs to bird222, he did DM me earliest. I didn't think these would fetch so much interest!!! Everyone okay with their picks?

Also, how much should it cost to ship these USB dongles the cheapest? Is everything a minimum of $5 these days?

2oz through USPS ground advantage to with the largest zone difference is $5.42 using non-retail rates. Charge a $6-ish.

$6

Check pirateship.com if you already have a scale and packing materials. Or you could use a forever stamp and envelope for an order of one unit (no tracking though).

I should've refreshed the page as I was obviously typing this when you posted. Great minds think alike.

Free battery storage case/organizer (just pay shipping):

Batt organizer.JPG

Get all of those spare batteries organized in one tidy case!
Holds an additional 50x AA or AAA batteries on the other side, in addition to what you see on the front.

Giving this away because my rechargeable NiMH batteries (what I have the most of) won't quite slide down in the holes deeply enough for the lid to shut. This is a common issue with some rechargeable batteries (many are just a hair larger than standard batteries and thus won't fit in some devices with really snug battery compartments). But it's perfect for alkaline batteries, or standard sized rechargeables if you happen to have some of those.

No battery tester included, but it came with a BT-168 if you want to replace it (the case has a slot molded for this very common tester).

Anyone want a sizer kit for the new Pebble Index 01? I think I can just pop a few stamps on it and put it in an envelope so call it $1 and it’s yours (they charge $10)

Bird222: # 4, 8, 9
Reefa_,madness claims: # 6,7, + #1
BeastGTS Claims: # 2,3, + #5
Narsbars: # 1, 5

#1 & #5 now available, which one needs a 1 and 5? Bird222 Reefa_Madness BeastGTS ?

3/30/25 Update: Reassigned #5 to BeastGTS and #1 to Reefa_Madness
I also somehow lost dongle #1, but Reefa will still get #'s 6 and 7. I dunno how I managed to lose one over the weekend.

I mentioned these a few months back, but... here we go.

I've got this set of old Windows 7 and 8 installation packages to give away. I'm selling everything I own in preparation for a move, and I can't actually sell these on eBay and people in town are... very special, so I figure someone here might be able to use them. These are:
One Windows 8 (I believe it's home) with both 32/64 bit discs and keys;
One Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade with both 32/64 bit discs, key and a "replacement key" written on a paper;
One Windows 7 Home Premium Retail with 32-bit disc only and key
One Windows 7 Pro Upgrade with 64-bit disc only and key.

None of these OSes are installed or in use, but I don't know if Microsoft will let you activate them or whatever. But it's nice to have legal keys and discs, no? I've only got one computer with Windows left, and all my old hardware is running a flavor of Linux, and with Wine and Proton being a thing, I have no use for these anymore.

All of these fit snugly in a Priority Mail Padded Flat Rate Envelope, or I can use another shipping method like UPS if you want, since I have a dropoff location in town. I *prefer* to get a prepaid shipping label instead of money to ship these. If you want to send a few bucks my way for a burger or something, I would appreciate it, but it's not necessary.

Please reply to claim these. I'd rather ship these off to a single person. Thanks.

Anyone interested in a Thermaltake Level 20VT m-atx case? Brand new (Although box is a little dinged on one corner. Cleaning out the closet and don't plan to use this thing. I'm west coast based to factor in shipping costs (would be via Pirateship UPS Ground). Free for cost of shipping (keep in mind shipping cases ain't super cheap), but a small tip for a beer would be appreciated but not required =P. Case is new, never used, although I did open it up a few years back to take a look at it then pack it back up again. I would need to know by tonight though if anyone wants it, heading to UPS store tomorrow, so would rather ship at the same time...If post tonight, would be added additional cost for a UPS pickup.

Man, if I wasn't extremely broke right now and dealing with space issues I would've taken this. Cool freebie.

PMed about these.

I may have one or two accessories to give away after this weekend. Do you guys give away on a first come, first serve basis, or is there some other criteria? Thanks

In my experience yeah. If it’s something particularly valuable sometimes we’d ask for a donation to the site.

Yeah, I process by timestamp. If you're giving multiple things, you may prefer someone who wants all of it, so you only have to ship one package, or you might prefer to give one item per person to spread the wealth. Either way works, it's your giveaway. If you get a lot of requests and pick someone you like, instead of the quickest person, that's your choice, too.

I have a SP4 8g/256g I7 tablet on Win10 IOT LTS. These work well enough that it was worth me replacing the battery in it when it swelled up.

On the lighter side of the news, the swelling battery made it easy to replace as all I had to do was place it in my oven at 175F (because mine had settings that low) and the screen popped 2/3 off with no damage to it.

Clarification: Not getting rid of it, just reinforcing these are still decent and very useable machines.
