Deadlock (Valve's next game)

Controlling an aim bot who looks like a Hasbro transformer with one arm. Back to the drawing board valve looks like a mobile game.

Bringing this up again. I've seen some interesting discussion that, even at its early phase of development (with lots of placeholder assets etc) people find it of greater interest than most other hero shooters. My curiosity is how it evolves and if they will have a much less exploitative monetization system than Overwatch 2 and similar. If anyone on the forum is capable of granting an invite to Deadlock testing, I'd appreciate a PM. Right now its somewhat of an open invite system provided you know someone who is in the test.

I really like the idea of Deadlock, and I've actually been waiting a long time for a game like this.

I've always liked the idea of MOBAs, just never the fact that you're controlling a single unit on a 2D plane. The 2D control puts an extreme limit on how much physical skill matters. I like a balance of physical skill and strategy in my games. So I never got into DotA back when it was a WC3 mod and never liked LoL or any of the other top down played MOBAs.

I did enjoy Smite because every basic attack was a "skill shot" and nearly every ability is too But in reality Smite is still played on a 2D plane, there is no real verticality in it. You can't aim up or down. So it's still very limiting.

Deadlock actually has true verticality and the gameplay designers clearly understand that with their level design. The game is still far from done and I guess we'll see how much they allow aiming skill to play a role. Most games minimize how much it does because it makes the game harder to balance. I'm kind of hoping for a 50/50 balance of strategy and physical skill.

Got it running again. Lemme know your Steam ID to friend and I'll get you queued for an invite

DM me your steam info to friend you. I've invited a few people so far but I think only one of them has received an invite yet
Hmm, is there a delay in receiving them? I requested one from the Steam forums last week. The said they sent it but I haven't gotten it yet. I just assumed it didn't go through.

Dunno, I've invited my entire friends list and only a handful of people seem to have received them. It says they're sent out every day or two but sometimes take longer. They should probably put an emphasis on the sometimes takes longer part.

I think I got the email for mine a day or two after my friend invited me. I wasn't expecting an email. I thought it would show up in Steam somewhere.

Turns out my son had invited me a week before without telling me, so I didn't get the more recent invite because my son's invite was already lost in the inbox.

Interesting. I got my invite from you within a couple of days .

Is anyone playing this???

I read about a big patch on PCGamer today so I'm tempted to finally give this a whirl

The game has been crashing for me after it starts loading maps for a few months now, meaning I currently can't invite people anymore

The problem with releasing a game this early in early access or as a "beta" is that everybody will have moved on and forget about it when it finally releases. Not even a "big patch" was enough to bring anybody back for this one.

anybody here playing this? it's been a year since any post.

wondering if its any good. too bad i cant try it out :(

It's been getting quite a bit of hype recently. I've installed it multiple times over the past couple of years but have never played a match.
