"“First, the girl kept her husband in suspense and asked him to solve a fairly complex calculation: 520×10 + 1,314 - 514 - 619 + 666 – 957,” explains Zesty. “The result of this calculation is exactly 5090. When her husband worked out the answer, the girls beside her took the 5090 out.”

So, the message started emphatically with 520x10. Or ‘I love you’ x 10. 1314 is significant as it is a homophone for ‘forever and always.’ Elsewhere in the tricky sum, we see 514 (til death), 619 (escaping forever), 666 (awesome), and 957 (I’m teasing)."

I'd still take the dowry. (y)
And the cost of the wedding still was 50x the cost of that card
I've heard from friends that some parts of China are adopting Western culture, but keeping Eastern cultural traditions for weddings.
West: Wife's family pays for wedding, groom buy's wedding ring.
East: Groom's family pays for wedding
...and some men are getting double boned where they pay for the wedding and the ring! That one child policy paying off.

Dont forget the other culture bit, the son's wife works like a slave keeping her in laws happy in old age

Haha, that really puts things into perspective! It’s funny how the smallest details, like a card or even a simple koozie, can still stand out even when everything else costs a fortune. Sometimes it’s those thoughtful touches that people remember most.

Employee quits job over an Nvidia RTX 5060 — intern refused to hand in GPU won on an all-expense-paid business trip

The law technically sides with the employee.

Lawyers discussing the case sided with the intern, saying that a prize won by random chance belongs to the person holding the ticket. It doesn't matter whether they were there on behalf of the business; in that moment, the employee wasn't fulfilling his duties when participating in the raffle. Unless the contract or internal rules explicitly address company property matters, in a legal standoff, the employee is in a stronger position.

So if he hooked up with some random lady while at the conference and got her pregnant would the company pay for support of the child? I mean after all if it wasn't for them sending him to the venue...

Chinese bride gifts her partner a flagship GPU at wedding — he breaks down in tears.

She handed him an ASUS ROG Astral RTX 5090 that costs around $12,000

A month later, a passing acquaintance offered a full Threadripper Pro build with 2TB of memory, if he would divorce her and get married.

"My plan it to build a whole datacenter baby!"

Wedding gift will be obsolete next year when nVidia remotely destroys 5090s to force you to buy a cloud gaming account with 5 hours a month playtime for 100 a month since nvidia will have stopped seling all gaming products.

I mean 100k on a wedding, probably a few grand for the rock on her finger, unless her parents paid for the wedding he's still owed something... anal, definitely anal... or two chicks at the same time!
