Rumour: Assassins Creed 4 Black Flag remake to resemble the recent RPG Assassins Creeds

I loved Black Flag.

Hopefully Ubisoft can big budget this game. I’m playing Shadows right now and the world detail is just staggering.
 
Sounds horrible. Game was already long, and probably one of the best adventure games ever. Dozens more of crappy side quests and distractions won't help. And muddying up the gameplay won't help. What needs to be fixed is the bad stealth mechanics, climbing mechanics, and some of the fighting mechanics need to be cleaned up. Tailing missions were a bit of a pain and could see some improvements. Seems like they're screwing over what was good, and will probably leave the rest of the crap in.

Likely. I mean... Look at Skull and Bones. It was supposed to be Black Flag without the Assassin's Creed. A lot of people, me included, were like "Hey, we loved playing boats in that game but the AC stuff sucks, please make game where you get to be a pirate and play boats and that's the whole game." They set to work on that and delayed, delayed, delayed and then... released a very meh online game that is basically Diablo but boats (literally there are tank, healer and DPS boats) and also has stupid difficulty spikes.
 
Loved Black Flag. If the new version looks and plays as good as Shadows I’ll be happy. I have absolutely no desire to re-play the original, which is ridiculously dated.

Black flag was like a 3D adventure version of Sid Meier's Pirates and that is a good thing 👌

More accurately it was like a 3D adventure version of Sid Meier's Pirates with stupid ass follow quests and other Assassin's Creed bullshit jammed in, which is who so many of us wanted Skull and Bones to be a good single player boats game.

I actually think if they have given it an RPG style make over it'll make a new playthrough feel fresh and different. I'm all for it but, really need to see some gameplay. Haven't even heard anything about a release date yet

You might notice I don't post about most of the Assassin's Creed games... because I don't like them and haven't played them. The reason I talk about Black Flag was because it had parts I REALLY liked and parts I really didn't. I wasn't the only one, there was a reason Skull and Bones started development.

I can't see them messing this up...Black Flag is one of Ubisoft's most acclaimed games...just keep the same mechanics and gameplay and update the graphics
 
This big gamer who came back to Walmart after 5 years said he can't wait for this game he even knew the characters names in game :p
I never played it myself. I asked him about Borderlands 4 said he uninstalled it after he finished it. Must be a problem with limited space on consoles.

From what I've seen it appears they're focusing on visual polish and QOL improvements, so not deviating from the original too much. I understand the tentative cynicism however given what a beloved title it is
 
That's very, very odd and makes me wonder if something else (settings changes, beta issues) is going on. Not looking at the outfit changes or anything but the pic on the right has much lower resolution textures, flatter lighting, and no AO near as I can see. Given the other visuals we've seen from the game, that doesn't seem right. For whatever else they are doing, they seem to have does a great job with graphics quality increases, including really good light and shadows. So it seems strange that the new one would look so flatly lit.
 
Seeing her in motion it looks a lot better. Maybe just a particularly bad screenshot. In that video you linked her clothes look properly high rez and her skin looks fine. It still looks a little overly-bright to me, including the next scene with Edward but maybe that's a stylistic choice, or maybe they are still working on the way they are doing AO.

As for the changes to the character model, it doesn't bother me.
