all this news about Zen3 makes me feel bad that i'm about to purchase a Zen2, it's like what's the point?
yup, been saving up for the 3950X, got my ram and nvme drive alreadyAfter all those Intel processor re-posts ur going Zen? huh. go figure.

Ryzen 3950X Build Help
So far i've already got the following components:
RTX 2080 Ti FE
Inland 1TB NVMe M.2 (Phison E12 Controller)
Samsung 950 Pro 512GB NVMe M.2
Corsair AX1200 PSU
Corsair H115i RGB AIO Water Cooler
G.SKILL Trident Z Neo (For AMD Ryzen) Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin RGB DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3600 (PC4 28800) Desktop Memory Model F4-3600C16D-32GTZNC
16 cores get me going. Unforunately I have nothing to use them. I was looking at the 3950x for a while just for the higher single (dual) core boost.
Why the 2080ti FE rather than something with better cooling / higher power limit?
heh, i've got a weird ignorance about all of that. i was into video rendering using (Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve) and some 3D rendering (Maya and the like), but haven't been for awhile... lets mask the ignorance and stupidity with the reason being "futureproofing" ... i got the Haswell-EP in 2017, so haven't been doing annual upgradesDont need the cores and money to burn? Futureproofing? A 3600x will give you similar gaming performance.
already own the 2080 Ti FE from Elmy
also i wonder what gains i'll get coming from a Haswell-EP 18-core @ 2.2 GHz base and 3.8GHz Max Turbo? think it'll be a big improvement architecturally or meh?
I am going to guess around 40%.
The extra cores can be nice. Encoding and gaming at the same time, ect.
It's as if there's some... use for computers outside of gaming.Dont need the cores and money to burn? Futureproofing? A 3600x will give you similar gaming performance.
