Yeah that'll chew through most AAA titles from the last couple of years in 1080p with pretty decent settings, you can't just "set it to wumbo" and go, but you could still have a little "eye candy" too and get very good frames on most titles.

The issue was that Nehalem from 2008 was faster than Bulldozer from 2011: https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-hd-7970-cpu-scaling/
And such lowly Core i7 920 when OC'ed to 4GHz was easily faster than fastest 5GHz Bulldozer and with less power consumption

Bulldozers were pretty bad... but that of course does not mean they cannot be still useful... or faster than even older Intel processors ;)
 
them was the years that i think AMD was really behind , But hey to each his own, Just my op :)

I only got the fx8150 because it was a hell of a deal at the time that i couldnt pass up. If i remember correctly , I got Crosshair v formula , 4x2gb gskill ddr3 and fx 8150 for like $75. This was all back in 2011.
I would have kept my qx6700, it was a beast for what it was, Great OC

My Bulldozer couldnt match some of the benchmarks.

Core 2 Quad was fine processor but especially in some newer games its memory subsystem showed its age, especially when more cores than 1-2 were used. System bus was the main bottleneck and main target for overclocking. With 65nm parts it could not be clocked high enough though. Wolfdale on newer Intel chipsets could do much much better.

C2Q had pretty decent IPC and in fact Nehalem had not that much different core design from Core2 and most changes were in platform which used integrated memory controller. For example in programs difference between Ci5@4GHz and C2Q@4GHz was pretty minor but in games it could get really big.

Bulldozer architecture in theory was supposed to be faster (IPC) than Phenom2 but AMD was unable to meet estimated targets. It truly was failed product and very sad period for AMD and consumer market in the whole (it was what kept Intel pushing 4c for so long). Thankfully AMD redeemed itself and now (partly due to Intel screw up this time) they have awesome sales. Zen2 will most probably turn things around even more.
