Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2

I bought Redemption day one at EB Games, same with Bloodlines, except with Bloodlines I preordered it,as it was A Troika title!! Long live Steamworks & Magic Obscura. Melody Spevik and Mary Elizabeth McGylnn did great voice acting, and Mitsoda was edgier back then, lot less caring about what direction the political winds of the day were blowing in,today he is smitten with identitarian politricks, and a full on NPC,slavering for more group think.

My excitement for Bloodlines 2,dropped off a cliff, after having 4 comments deleted by the game Dev's on the games page. Smudboy.... then Razorfist and Jeremy from the Quartering, then Sargon nailed it down further on utube for me,in their commentaries.
Chris Avellone,is not the writer ,merely a outside consultant, who helped pitch the game idea(Chris is being used as red meat for the hardcore gamers out here skeptical, that need reassuring. imo) same with the likes of Brian Mitsoda(who the Dev's themselves list as Narrative Lead.... NOT,The "Lead Writer" who is a young women,Cara Allison, in love with Anita Sarkesian, and identity politics. Hint read her game reviews, blogs and articles over the years. This one is hard FKG core into third wave feminism, etc,HER WORDS,not mine. Oh,she also is very PRO Censorship. Them asking 103 Cdn bucks on Steam ,a year ahead, and for dlc's with zero gameplay shown, had me worried, but I paid. I got a refund the next few days later. Why? The draconian censorship of the Dev's. The screencaps look amazing, but under the hood the engine is all authoritarian and hate of half its fanbase.

I'm just not sure though, can you clarify which side of the political fence you are on?

I'm so offended that the game lets you choose pronouns. In fact I really feel like there should be a trigger warning on the preorder page. Preorder cancelled for Bloodlines 2 being an SJW feminazi crapfest.

I could care less what another names themselves, in our world, thier head,or a PC game. What does bother me is a game telling me I have wrong think,or Dev's that are ultra authoritarian, pro censorship like Cara Ellison, the "Lead Writer" on this game, etc.

All over tbh,it depends on the issue. I do not believe in the typical left/right labeling the left/right/corporate MSM use,to manipulate the herd. I got off that hamster wheel in my late 20's(I am 54). Extremes of all kinds are bad, imo. I am extremely pro freedom of speech, assembly, ownership of firearms, etc. Hillary is a warmongering psychopath, but so is Trump,as his foriegn policy has been just as pro mass murder, and illegal theft of gas,oil and minerals not or own as any other, except maybe Obama,he was quite the mass murderer.(illegal drone strikes, fast and furious,Benghazi) Both 'sides' are puppets of London Banksters,so its useless, largely. Until we control our money supply, voting left ,right,or center is a crapshoot at best.

World of Darkness is very much a political thing, the big thing is simply going to be how good the writing is and how hard they force the player into doing one thing versus another.

Very much agree,it is but its politics have generally centered around in universe vampire politics of Camerilla vs Sabbat, etc. Sadly the "Lead Writer" Cara Ellison is on record as pro censorship, she idolizes ideologues like Anita Sarkesian , and belives strongly in concepts like critical race theory. Therefore my hopes for Bloodlines 2 are low. I hope this lady can leave her personal politics at the door, when she has her "Lead Writer" hat on at work.

I still think you are wrong. The world of darkness is all about the WORLD being dark politically and socially. Hatred bursting at the seems. The Elite and the have nots at incredible levels of disparity. Unemployment at the 30-40% mark with no social services. Homeless camps on the outskirts of towns being beaten back by riot police and burned down every quarter. The world is shit but painted to look like gold. The worst is the reality while everyone pretends otherwise. To NOT have politics reflected in SOME fashion would be stupid.

The fashion though really should in my opinion please you. It would be the inverse of what the writer considers ideal. The heroes would be striving to make their small part of the world/society better and then you would throw in camarilla politics on top of that. (Or Sabbat if that is an option and wow wouldn't that be crazy. you're a member of the black hand have a nice day.)

It’s about more than just the political machinations between clans. WoD reflects the era each edition is made. It reflects politics and social issues much like most monster media does, especially V:tM.

Maybe the SJW stuff might not hurt to much. You'll be a thinblood which is *under* the bottom of the social structure (not even full vampire). You'll be full ghetto. So, you can be the good SJW, sticking it to the camarilla man bringing down the establishment. Fight for the rights of minority thinbloods! Power to the people. Probably have an attractive and charismatic torreador helping us, who got stabbed in the back by someone on the other side of the isle.

Or you can choose to be a cammy asshole, help maintain the white er pale power. Keep the status quo for the stuffy old vamps. Maybe you're only accepted as a true vampire by them if you commit diablerie (the most henious crime for a vampire), but camarilla can make exceptions if you're valuable enough, hence right wingers are hypocrites. Politics isn't more nuanced than that, right? J/K

Anyways, the player chooses.

Well, if the lead writer comes up with something like that, I'll just play and focus on game play, trying to ignore stereotypes and tropes. Hopefully the game will have an awesome atmosphere like the first. Memorable characters. Combat might be fun. Meh, I'll probably just play this game. Who knows, there probably will be a 3rd side for those fed up with politics across the spectrum.

And if the game is good enough, maybe I'll play though all sides.

Don't know what you are talking about "SJW Stuff." The bloodlines games were always about classes fighting with each other and trying to coexist. That's one of the things that made the original Bloodlines games so cool... you got to explore what it would be like in a Vampire society.

The NPCs look very robotic, they would have been better off making their animations more subtle. That lady looks like shes trying to crack her neck while talking to the player.

Man this political/racial stuff is putting a bad taste in my mouth. I’ll probably play this regardless but, I need less of that in my life, not more.

It feels more in your face, deliberate, and forced but then again that's the day and age we're in. Politics was always part of this but I feel like in the first game it was... less obtrusive?

I call B.S. There is never that much parking at King Street Station.

And while an alpha build, that combat is rough and jumpy. It needs work, especially considering vampire vs. humans

For pre-release stuff, I don't normally keep up on pre-release demos. So, I was wondering. Historically for other games, do animations and other graphical things greatly improve when comparing alpha demos vs final product?

Much,much less obtrusive.

I'm glad they didn't get rid of the sexy vamp trope. It's part of vampire mythology.

Its near been flushed down the toilet, since Cara Ellison took over, and that other lady designer took over. Where is the Velvet Velour V's? or Anezka types? Where are the Jeannette's ? Or, The sexy, and aggressive twins from Vienna(in Redemption) ? No leggy broads here,No busts, way less skin shown on the female models. Those making this game hate what Feminists call "The Male Gaze" its clear as day,in the NPC models that have been showcased. Rageaholic/TheQuartering/ Sargon of Akkad, etc, etc were right to be concerned. City was detailed and felt and looked great. The animation shown at e3,was horrible, or non existent ,yes its "Pre Alpha" but good god.
Great atmosphere, great music on streets(club music was crap, imo),amazing RTX Lighting and shadows, bad to decent voice acting, imo.

Well, here's where they stuck Jeanette....

She's been relegated to an addon pack as on outfit basically. =P

I really hope we get to meet a black Vampire and a Indian Vampire in the game. That's one thing that stood out to me in it's omission was other races as vampires. I mean sure a black vampire might have ashy skin or go through buckets of moisturizer. But still! Plus I could see Indian Cultures having an interesting take on the vampire Mythos. (Well I guess there are Assimites and they are more Indian focused right? Or at least Middle Eastern.)

With how janky the original was, maybe the animation and graphical design is intentional... regardless, the first game was amazing.

I don't get the obsession with animations... I remember people spitting fire over Mass Effect Andromeda's character animations when it released which to me didn't lessen my enjoyment of the game.

I agree with you however that the first game was amazing. The atmosphere, music... I just hope this can live up as a true sequel.
