Destiny 2

I spent 3 hrs last night doing patrols and public events and got like 10 stems......i have 1 code and 8 stems left.....

Oof, yeah 10 stems in 3 hours is not the best efficiency. Lost Sectors are easier when you just run past the ads and burn the boss but I am looking at this like a level 650. I suppose being under max level is going to make all of this a little more difficult.

Keep with it though, I did Sleeper solo prior to Forsaken launching and it was worth it.

Its great, just has lots of competition now.

Only heavy worth running in the Izanamis Forge.

Ye im sitting at 540 light right now. I guess the only good thing is that when i do these 3 hr stints im getting 3-4 prime ingrams a session which are dropping between 545 and 550 level gear. I am slowing moving up to 600.

For those still under light/power, pay special attention to those Power Surge Bounties come Tuesday. Specifically designed to get you to 640 power ASAP. Go to 1:05 in the above video for that part.

Yea i think that was for the season pass owners.....i still need to pull the trigger on that......lol

Been testing out exotic combos to 'git gudder' at gambit.. Woooahboy.. I may have pissed off a team last night. I wasn't in the last but was a stinker Seems I need to rethink my synergizing more.

I just bought the annual pass and booted up the game and don't really know what to do. I'm still at light level 500 from when I last played, which I think was when Forsaken was the latest content, and don't see anything to do on the map aside from strikes and public events.

I assume I'm missing something? Anyone willing to get me up to speed on what I should be doing at that level? Or should I wait for the Power Surge Bounties someone mentioned?

PiERiT - Anything on the map with a gold star.. This is where the good loot drops are for the week.

Level up more and you can get into night fall, gambit, crucible etc. Finish out any DLC solo content.. so Foresaken, Dreaming City, etc. At least gets you access to it all.

Dreaming City has two weekly 'ascendant' quests, but I think you are not high enough on the light level.

Thank you. I'll try the gold star things but I don't see any story content. I have something for Black Armory but its suggested light level is 640.

I still feel like there's some pre-req I haven't done or some spot I'm not looking at, unless the gold star stuff is all I'm left with. :( I guess I'll need to do some more digging after work.

Did you finish Foresaken, the Warmind, and Osiris? Have Tangled Shore and Dreaming city available?

I like Malfeasance, Ikelos SG, Hammerhead personally
Yeah.. that's my issue.. I don't have any of the kewl kid weapons since I've only been playing for a few months. A handful of exotics, but the rest of are just fancy purples and occasional, picked up master work. Maybe I need to go splunk my vault and make masterwork gear. Oh well.

I wouldn't. You'll be hemorrhaging cores faster than you can get them which is especially bad going into a new season with a new Power Level. You'll need/want them to power up. The exotics you really want are probably Whisper, Thunderlord, Tractor Cannon, Sleeper Simulant, Legend of Acrius, Telesto, Jotunn, Riskrunner, Vigilance Wing, Ace of Spades, The Chaperone and maybe Black Talon. Those seem to have the most usefulness overall. I would look them up as while some are random drops, others have specific quest lines to acquire them.

When you login and go to the Director (the map of all the planets), you may have something on the left of your screen that will pop out if you press the Interact key (default is E). If there are any main story things to do, they'll be listed there. If you own Curse of Osiris, Warmind and Forsaken and nothing is there, then its all completed.

As was mentioned, you'll want to work on those first, then move to Forsaken content which starts at the Tangled Shore.

Are all you guys on PC? I guess I'm still on PS4 out of habit even though I do end up playing in my office on monitors more than the big TV... wifey has to get her 8 hours of daily HGTV + Food network. I bet my Titan could beat Bobby Flay if given a chance. :)

This Season of the Drifter thing coming up... it's all PVP / gambit isn't it? Which I suck at.

I finished the DLCs (Osiris was really cool looking... Warmind was meh) and halfway through Forsaken / Cayde's quest. I'd like some more single player storyline but I guess I'm SOL.

I think so. I know I am and some of the other active posters.

If you don't like Gambit, there likely won't be much you're interested in unless you're a collector/into lore. If you're curious what the season has to offer on a whole though, I suggest watching the ViDoc that came out yesterday. I posted a above a bit.

Ha, that's funny you say that. Osiris is universally known as the worst expansion in Destiny history even though it had its moments.

You'll still have tons of exotics, triumphs and pinnacle weapons to grind for, not to mention the incredible raids.

Destiny is really pushing towards pinnacle/end game activities which a lot of the community thought it was lacking in Y1. I'm all for it so I'm ok with no story for now.

Well yeah Osiris is repetitive but I thought the time garden thing and Mercury in general looked really cool. Then again repetitive = Destiny anyway.

Thanks again. I managed to get from 500->552 this weekend. Something tells me it's going to be much slower now. :(

New topic, is there a consensus 'best' weapon type for solo PvE? I've been using Pulse Rifles (Go Figure and Graviton Lance) but in the handful of strikes I've done, everyone else seems to be using single-shot weapons like hand cannons, sniper rifles, and bows.

While auto rifles recently received a buff, the meta has absolutely been handcannons, pulse rifles, shotguns and snipers. The damage output and just plain time to kill is leaps and bounds better than anything else. I haven't consistently used an rifle in months and frankly, they still feel like garbage and I'm putting myself at a disadvantage using them.

Scouts also recently received a buff so I've been getting back into them but only in certain situations.

As for heavy/power weapons for challenging content, we're kinda in a spot right now where a handful of exotics are really the only ones worth using if you want to be effective with the only exceptions being machine guns. Keep an eye out for Whisper, Thunderlord, Tractor Cannon, Sleeper Simulant, Legend of Acrius, Black Talon.

My day to day load out rarely doesn't include a shotgun and for most content, it's either the Threat Level from the latest raid or IKELOS from Escalation Protocol on Mars. Rapid Fire shotguns are the only shotguns worth using in PvE at the moment (Nerf incoming) and these two specifically can roll with a perk called Trench Barrel which gives them a substantial damage boost if you melee before shooting.

Recently my primary has been a Kindled Orchid hand cannon, Black Scorpion scout or Blast Furnace pulse.

Heavy, well... one of the above I listed or the Legendary Hammerhead machine gun.

At this point prime engrams are my friend. I now up to 548 light, been grinding like hell to get resonant stems for the Sleeper Simulant. I think I might have to finally pull the trigger on the season pass.
Somehow i got a exotic engram last night and it dropped the sunbracers for me....I was kind of shocked considering the RNG of life hates me and i never get any good drops or drop rates.

Yeah, just keep going with absolutely anything and everything that rewards powerful gear.

I think this is where a lot of people get caught up and wonder why they're not gaining power levels. Sure, if you want to play what you want to play, say Crucible or Gambit, as you only have an hour or two a day, there is literally nothing wrong with that. However you can't be expected to constantly be raising your power level. In some games that might be the case, but the daily and weekly challenges in Destiny only require a little of all the available activities to get that reward.

I know that during a power level increase time, there is SO much on all three characters that rewards Powerful Gear that i'm not doing a single thing unless its for Powerful Gear, even IF I find that one activity enjoyable to grind for hours.

Additionally, and I know i've said it before but grinding it out on all three characters makes the Power progression that much faster. Finish one character, move those now high power weapons to the next and start again. Those weapons that will be higher than your existing power level will help slingshot your lower level armor well past where it would have went without the higher power weapons from the first character.

Looking forward to the new content starting tomorrow. They are including a lot of things that will help people power up as well.

Malfeasance takes grinding Gambit, but it's worth it, IMO. It's a very well rounded PvE Hand Cannon. I usually leave it on unless I need a different Exotic. Ikelos SG is easy to get, just do Esalation Protocol on Mars when it rolls around to the Shotgun. 2 out of 3 of us got one in the first 3 completions. Hammerhead is the first legendary you get from completing Black Armory, which isn't hard either.

I have 3 Characters but 1 I used the power level to 320 and the other one is lvl 1 lol. I totally forgot you can transfer weapons to other characters which makes it a lot easier....I glad you pointed that out!

TripleAgent77 - Haven't gotten around for the season pass so no black armory.

Oddly, after spending some time having a hard think about it, I believe I got descent synergy going.. Some exotic gauntlets that buff up my melee and fills my grenades faster.. grenades buff up my super... running the arc with the big ol' power beam.. but kills help feed me health..

Some descent auto kinetic.. and either a sunshooter exotic gun or tricked out pulse rifle. Did fairly well over the weekend. Probably should grind a bit more with my sunshot for the 'Aces of Spades' quest, but we shall see.

Ace Of Spades is good for PvE and PvP. That might be something to focus on to move you ahead.

Yeah, will circle on that. Sucks to your ass-mar for anyone playing with me as I bumble around with my sunshooter.. Sad I can't get the catalyst for it.

You and everybody else. Why they locked those catalysts behind an event that hasn't returned is beyond me. Then, told us there would be news about and still stayed silent.

Strange.

The Sunshot was cool year one but the small magazine makes it such a pain to use these days. Honestly, the catalyst might not even be worth it unless it increased the mag size which at the moment, it doesn't.
