He shot first In the movie solo which was a form of apology to Star Wars fans I think.

I enjoyed the Solo movie and think it was one of the best Star Wars movies since the original trilogy, but then I’m a casual fan and never read or familiarized myself with the extended universe.
 
House of mouse says everything is o.k. but yet I still don't feel the force compelling me to buy any of this EA stuff.

I'll wait for real reviews when it comes out to believe anything.

Battle all of the Villians from the Movies while you just play say a regular guy or gal that could be fun. Make it a theme park setting with Donald Duck instructing you in the starting tutorial.

When there was nothing else to see, nothing even approaching the detail that star Wars had which seemed to almost single handedly revolutionize movie making and sci fi at the time, we ate these little gems up and watched the shit out of them.

Nowadays there's so much technology that competition is fierce in movie making. I think we expect more because what was done with little to nothing in the past was seemingly better. We want better stories and we want star Wars to feel like star Wars. The only show that managed that imo was Star Wars Rebels.

Dave Filoni should be at the helm , that guy knows how to make star wars.

Aw, I wanted to see Rian's trilogy. Bummer. Oh well, it may be for the best. I'm not expecting much from JJ's next Star Wars movie. His second Star Trek movie was awful, I really enjoyed the first one.

The second movie was Damon Lindelof’s fault, he is an awful writer.

JJ only has one real trait, he mimics the styles of other directors.

It's going to turn out that this whole new trilogy is just what Vader foresees as he is contemplating whether or not to save Luke at the end of Return of the Jedi. He's finding it very hard to decide if he wants Luke to go through the pain of being Force Lightning'd to death or to die a meaningless death at the hands of a corporation more evil than the Empire ever was. In the heat of the moment he chose the latter. Maybe he thought Luke would be strong enough to change his future.
 
Naa, they should leave the original movies as is, you don't need to fully reboot Star Wars, just take your movie to a different time period. The nice thing about the EU is how vast Star Wars is, nothing is really painted into a corner (like in Star Trek).

Rian Johnson talked about in an article how he got some pointers from JJ Abrams on where they eventually wanted the story to go, and he decided to completely scrap everything and redo it is on the way. The writers were only doing what Rian told them.

If you look at the movie, it's pretty obvious oh Rian set out to intentionally fuck up Star Wars and make the movie a giant fuck you to Star Wars fans.

Why do you think kylo Ren had a line about wanting to destroy the Jedi, sith, and burn everything to the ground?

That wasn't just a line for kylo; that was the director speaking through him to tell all the Star Wars fans "fuck you, fuck your expectations, now watch me as I intentionally fuck up your universe and laugh my ass off about it."

Johnson can drop off a cliff for all I care. they were going to go with a third director for the third movie but because of how badly Rian fucked up, Abrams is coming back to get it all back on track.

Context is important, Damon Lindelof did not write Star Wars TLJ, he wrote Star Trek Into Darkness, the second Star Trek Movie Fix Me was referring too.

JJ Abrams is not a writer, he is very much a copy cat director, and he is a damn good copy cat.

As for Rian, he goofed, but I think the sentiment of burning it all to the ground and starting fresh isn't just Rian, I believe that is the majority of the sentiment at Disney's Star Wars studio.

Edit: Also JJ won't get anything back on track, he hates fans almost as much as Rian does. JJ has butchered every franchise he has touched, but gets a gold star because he is a master a mimicking the style of better directors.

The directors he copies for one, Spielberg, Lucas, Roddenberry all come to mind. Do you honestly think JJ is the best director today?

Christopher Nolan, Clint Eastwood, Scorsese, Del Toro. Hell, shot for shot, Rian is a better director then JJ, he just hates Star Wars more and shit all over it.

Edit: I like Lucas, he is a decent director, his problem is he is a better story boarder than writer. He had several revisions of the original Star Wars (14 drafts over a decade I believe) and plenty of editorial help, in contrast he had much less assistance and more ego for the prequels.

Tarantino, Anderson, Gunn, Scott, Miller, Wright, the Coen's, just to name a few more that are Parsecs ahead of JJ.
