The Original Ghostbusters Cast Will Return for New Movie

I think some of you are confused on feminism. The type of feminism we are dealing with today and what birthed this movie and others like it is called third wave or intersectional feminism. It has absolutely nothing at all to to with feminism or fighting for equality. It is 100% about hating men and more and more professional psychologists are calling it a hate group. They use claims of diversity and equality, but those claims are at direct odds with their actions. I suggest you do some research on the topic of you really want to understand why intersectional feminists should not only be ignored but shouldn't be tolerated on any level.

Except the problem is you cant go against them. To call out their buillshit you get told its hate speech. If you point out the real feminism they tell you that you have no right to tell them what feminism is and that men shouldn't define anything for them. I agree with you 100% its a hate group but its a hate group that enjoys legal/social protections. For some reason them claiming diversity/equality is like a impenetrable cloak.

At my work a woman actually slapped a guy (I was one of the witnesses) when he made an argument similar to what you just said. He was the one to get officially reprimanded even though she was the one spouting shit at work which was inappropriate (which was what started it, he tried to ask her to stop at work). She got told that maybe next time she should just walk away from toxic men and report them to HR....because guess what...everyone in HR is on her side and believes the same shit she does!

HR departments are often nests of converged hires and they often control who gets in the building.

Thank God I have a boss who does not tolerate that BS

If he has multiple witnesses and especially if there is video surveillance on the grounds, he should press assault charges. Sure HR might be on her side, but they cannot fight a legal subpoena for video evidence.

There is no video. And I already told him to press assault charges but he said he was pretty much told if he doesnt drop it he gets fired.

If he gets fired over that, he gets to sue for wrongful termination.

Youre preaching to the choir. But his official record says he started a fight with her and she was defending herself (yeah isnt our HR just wonderful?)

EDIT: She said she felt like he was going to assault her because hes twice her size and an aggressive white male.

Well you can lead a horse to water and such. At the end of the day the court is going to side with multiple eye witnesses in a he said she said..so..yea.But if he backs down from this, well he better be sending his resume out because he just became HR's doormat.

Yup...I will see if he comes back from his three day suspension or not. His career here is finished anyway because of this.

As much as this situation sucks not only should he be looking for a new job regardless, if you end up as a witness for an assault(here in California since she actually struck him that would actually be battery and in other places that's generally more than a basic assault charge) case you should do the same since you're going to end up on HRs shit-list as well.

People just need to carefully record such interactions, I mean this lady thought her little video here supported HER claim of sexual harassment... yikes:

I know this is going to make me sound crazy, but I enjoyed the Ghostbuster reboot and would have liked to see a second one with the same cast. I didn't really see the feminist propaganda everyone was ranting about and Chris Hemsworth being a moron was hilarious.

Then again I'm one of the few rational humans left and have no overly soft spot for the original movies.

I thought it was a fine movie. Didn't live up to the original but wasn't the dumpster fire everyone calls it. I would even say it's better than Ghostbusters 2.

I have been before this little incident...it only added to my desire to gtfo.

I didn't see it either, but it wasn't really in the movie itself, it was in the decision to do it the way they did it? I dunno...

my initial hope was the girls were like daughters or students of the original ghostbusters or something... so when it was revealed to be a reboot that kinda annoyed me, yet I was still optimistic because I do like some of those actresses and I like watching women in movies in general.....

but.... it just wasn't a fun movie to watch, maybe because of the SNL link, it felt like they were just making FUN of the ghostbusters franchise and using it to make some easy money, instead of honoring it in any way...

I didn't like the new one. The original took itself seriously while being funny, but the reboot was just forced slapstick humor.

The original convinced you the tools and science was real. The reboot made fun of the tech with ridiculous names and stupid new gadgets.

The original was a great movie people will continue to recommend and rewatch for decades. The reboot is just a generic Hollywood movie that everyone would forget about next year if it wasn't for the original.

I had a whack job I was dealing with here at work, a sound recorder on my persons at all times and pictures when appropriate were the word of the day.

You can make all the noises you want to HR but when the person you accused pulls out a recording device he-said she-said goes right the hell out the window.

She is no longer employed here, nuff said.

Be tech savvy my friends, the job you save maybe our own.

We are not allowed to have such things at work. We get searched everyday. We dont even have phones. We are lucky we are allowed internet.

Problem with that, is depending on your location that can end up being illegal, and that's assuming you're working in an environment where you can do it.

That's illegal in any state that requires two party consent to communication recording, and that is a large number of states.

Reading all of this, it really is only a matter of time before all interaction in the work place is monitored.

It applies to any kind of audio communication, whether face to face or phone calls.

Source please.

The link I posted specifically states

"In most jurisdictions, it is not unlawful to record a conversation as long as one party knows about the recording."

The legal page posted covered the subject in some detail, recording at work is fairly safe unless your employer forbids it in writing. Even then a case was cited in which there was a policy/law in place but the court still ruled in the persons favor.

From reading this, most states would be one party consent (so you can record conversations with just your consent), that being said, it is a nuanced system in the US so caution would be advised.

I wish there were more like us who could set the politics aside and actually judge it for being a movie.
Threads on this is a reflection of the modern US government. Everything is distracted by partisanship and real issues can never be discussed.

Everything becomes "you like/hate this because you are a (insert slang term for whatever group applies to the argument)!"

I am excited for the movie. In the end either it will be something that entertains me for 2 hours or it won't. Not sure why everything does need an agenda. The agenda is to entertain and get the most people to buy tickets.

Funny you say that, since part of Sony's shitty campaign was deleting youtube comments that were rational discussion about things like the apparent tone of the writing, and leaving all the misogynist shit and pointing to that as being the entirety of the criticism.

Please note the page you linked too indicates telephone recording, not personal face to face conversations which is what we are discussing.

Telephone recording in a whole different matter entirely.

Conversations do not necessarily have to be over telephone for two party consent states.

I'm sorry if Leslie Jones doesn't like it, but the fact of the matter is that their movie just wasn't good. It had nothing to do with the fact that it was a group of women, at least not to me. It just wasn't good as are most remakes/sequels/prequels, etc. I really had hoped it would have been better.

That said, I am excited to see this cast reunite but am worried it'll be not great as well. I guess we'll see.

I think both things can be true. Their movie was terrible, and a lot of people were pissed they swapped to an all female cast.

In order of most to least preferred situations for the previous reboot:

1 Original cast returns for reboot of series

2 New cast of guys returns for reboot of series

3 New cast of females returns for reboot of series

Can I make a confession? Something a lot of people are afraid of just admitting openly? I prefer seeing certain kinds of people in certain roles. When I play games that are rpgs, I like to be able to craft my own character because as a shallow gay guy, I want the main character on my screen to be good looking. Geralt was not that, and that took me out of the witcher. I never said it was a bad game, but the reason I was less into had to do with my own personal preferences on aesthetics.

Same thing happens with the female jedi lead for the new star wars movies. More guys are into that franchise than women, so having the force powered "hero" being female rather than male is less appealing to a lot of guys.

And the same happens with a female ghostbusters team

And the WNBA. Are none of those games exciting at all? I'm sure some are more exciting than watching some B list college basketball games, but identity and attachment matters a lot to people. And it's past time people stop pretending that is not a large part of what drives their interests, or lack thereof.

Lifehacker? Ok I'll play.

"There are, however, a few exceptions to this law that create some sizable loopholes. The biggest being the “one-party consent” rule that says you can record people secretly if at least one person in the conversation consents to the recording, or if the person recording is authorized by law to do it (like police with a warrant). If we go back to our bedroom recording, that means you could record your conversation as long as one person—you—consents to it."

Courts have already ruled you are on solid legal ground recording a face to face conversation without the other person knowing, particularly in a non-private setting.

You think I didn't consult with the lawyer in the state of CT? I work in a building with a few hundred women. The words "she is lying and I have it on tape and consulted with a lawyer" and she was out the building in minutes upon review. Unemployment denied her claim when she attempted to file as well.

You can fight or throw away your job, I had kids to feed and not inclined to put up with someone screwing with me.

GB2016 was just a bad movie.

Thanks for posting this. I was getting frustrated reading through the thread watching it swirl down the drain.

It WAS a shit movie. Not because of any politics...it was just shit. Pure and simple. See my earlier post on how I ignored all the reviews and swirl around it...only to find out it the movie was shit.

Sure, you just said the same thing my buddy says about why he rolls female chicks in MMOs/RPGS. He prefers to stare at a womans ass when he is playing vs some dude.

As far as the Jedi chick my issue wasnt identifying with her (I actually enjoyed looking at her ;) ) my issue with that movie was the shitty writing and how the movie turned itself from a sci-fi/fantasy flick into a political statement. I have seen movies and read books with strong female leads...ones that arent political statements. I enjoyed them just as much as I did with books/movies with strong male leads.

The gender of the person in the role (book or movie) generally has nothing to do with how much I enjoy a particular story. For me its all about is it well written, engaging, and well fun.

The general opinion at the time is the movie wasn't too terrible, but the problem with the agenda mostly in the marketing approach not the movie itself. I think somebody thought provoking controversy would be free advertising. It didn't work out. It does often, though.

Care to share details about the specific sound recorder you used?

I'm good at ignoring whatever agenda they are trying to push it seems.

The main cast for this new one will be teenagers, 2 boys and 2 girls. Sounds like the returning actors won't be the focus.
