Shadow of the Tomb Raider Is Getting Review Bombed on Steam Because It's on Sale

How does this game being on sale equate to people being screwed over? Unless I missed something, and used digital game licenses can be resold, the value of what was purchased isn't diminished by the current price since it has no value to anyone but the person who purchased it. If you bought the game and want to be angry with anyone, be angry with yourself for making a bad choice to buy it at release.
Do you really not comprehend even the simplest of concepts? How many times does it have to be said for people like you to get it through their skull that newcomers can now get the game for 50% off just 4 weeks after launch while people that paid full price for it may not even be able to finish the game yet through the technical bugs. And again they're already discounting unreleased content for the game. Well at least I see the level of intelligence and reading comprehension that people have that think it's acceptable.

I love lamp

Yet another person with piss poor reading comprehension skills. Most of the anger is with people not even being able to play the game all the way through because it had so many bugs. And then they are discounting the full version of the game even more and all the DLC which has not even been released yet. So yes discounting a game nearly 50% off just 4 weeks after launch while it still has technical issues preventing those that paid at or near full price from finishing it is a shity move. It's almost like there are just nothing but assholes in this forum that get off on seeing other people get crapped on.

Yeeesh. Look, yeah, anyone certainly has a right to grumble about a game not working. But when I saw this thread I popped onto Steam and in a brief inspection of the TR page I saw recent thumbs-down reviews only mentioning the early-ish sale and specifically noticed several of the names of the reviewers appeared to be Chinese just as was mentioned above. I didn't read hundreds of reviews, but I didn't see any complaining about ongoing technical problems.

I get that you're angry, and yeah my tone was disrespectful, but in no way did I address my post specifically at you. The, ahem, "crapping on" that you feel is directed toward you likely comes from the simple fact that pre-orders tend to be risky and a lot of gamers in this forum avoid them because of situations like this. I still have no sympathy for anyone who pre-orders and gets upset because of a sale and then tries to vent via a review.

It is Square, they've become known for this. They aren't the only ones, especially on PC. My rule anymore is, Oct/Nov releases will be on sale for Black Friday or Christmas sales and you should wait if not willing to pay full price to play now. Destiny2 isn't a great example because it got panned early on (deservedly so) and I paid 20% off on console and PC at release. It is the same with games that get released in late spring, wait for the summer sales. I think Far Cry 5 and maybe one other are the only $60 games I've bough this year till red dead2. It is harder now though that bestbuy and amazon have killed off their 20% preorder deals.
Wait... when did Best Buy kill theirs?? I still have almost 2 years left and just used it! Even if I still can get the discount for the remainder of my discount club sub, I really will miss getting 26% off (20% + 6% back with rewardzone credit card) every new physical game I buy at release, sometimes more!

It is perfectly acceptable for a game to be discounted. It is not acceptable for a game to have game breaking bugs. Neither of those things are mutually exclusive in anyway.

Treating your opinion like fact, and complaining about others level of intellegence for not agreeing is hilarious.

How is the gameplay the same as the second one? The third game is much more about tombs and has hardly any action at all compared to the previous game.
Same gameplay mechanics. There is plenty of combat in the third game as well, and most of the tombs are optional, but Tomb Raider is supposed to be about Tomb Raiding :-p I did all the tombs in the second game as well, they offered a great change of pace compared to the combat in between. But if you just waded trough it ignoring all the tombs, then I'd understand why you think there is less combat in the third. I think the combat was still way over the top in the third.

Well all the geniuses appear to have won - it's back up to full price. Shame, I would have bought it for 40% off, but my reading comprehension just isn't good enough for me to pay $60.

Earlier this year. If I remember right it lasts until January 2019? All I remember besides people getting lucky by having already bought extensions was that Amazon took away their pre-order deal away soon after.

Long thread on it, https://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/367344-best-buy-gcu-is-being-discontinued/?hl= best

Well, it goes back about 70 years.
It does not help that the CPC encourages it. It's pushed in their textbooks and it's constantly on TV.

The f'd up part about the whole thing is that if it were not for the Japanese occupation of China, brutal though it was, the CPC would not be in power today. The CPC cost China far more lives than the Japanese did.

I guess you can turn to Hong Kong productions to see a more nuanced, though not necessarily more historically accurate account of things...

I bought it at full price and am quite disappointed. Story was poor, not really any new interesting mechanics even though there very little combat, puzzles were fairly straight forward (there was one where I got stuck moving mirrors and light around and thats about it) and so many swimming sections.

Id highly recommend 1 and 2 to anyone, this one was just a real bore and grind to play imo. I left a lot of the side quests since they all seemed to be walking around town and talking to people for crappy rewards.

Id say most of the people review bombing feel the same way about the game.
