Government Payment Service Inc, which runs the website GovPayNow.com, leaked over 14 million customer records from the past 6 years. Names, phone numbers, addresses, and the last 4 digits of credit cards were part of the leak. The website is used by state and local governments across the U.S. for a wide variety of payment services, including tickets, bail and court ordered fines. The parent company, Securus Technologies, apparently doesn't have the best track record when it comes to security, with multiple publicized security incidents this year.

“GovPayNet has addressed a potential issue with our online system that allows users to access copies of their receipts, but did not adequately restrict access only to authorized recipients."

14 million? pssh. You have to get up pretty early in the morning to outleak Equifax.

Meh, no social, no full credit card - no big deal.

I'm, not saying this is acceptable behavior - I'm just saying that everyone else is doing even worse. Until someone puts them into check (e.g. Equifax needs to be fined BILLIONS) then this is just peanuts in comparison.

Government and leak in the same sentence? And someone is surprised by the announcement of this? Its like trying to hold the cap on a hot radiator......
