AMD has released a new series of GPU's to OEM customers that go by the moniker RX500X series. Unfortunately, they are simply rebrands and not even the specs have changed from the former RX500 series. You should consider this a public service announcement for the uneducated so they don't buy a new OEM system thinking they're getting something new in a GPU. However, maybe this release will signal an increase in production for AMD video cards and help to bring prices back down and increase stock on AMD GPU's.

If you don't believe me, take it directly from AMD: “There are no hardware differences to non-X [RX 500 GPUs],” said an AMD spokesperson to PC World's Brad Chacos. “The Radeon RX 500X series graphics cards is a brand refresh for 2018 OEM platforms that ensures Radeon RX 500 series cards are using the latest ‘Polaris’ architecture-based hardware and driver revisions (Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition) for 2018.”

This has nothing to do with fooling the consumer. OEM type add in builders update their part numbers every year, and without a new card to insert into that equation, AMD is just responding to that need with a modified part number. Learn the facts about the situation before you start trashing them and looking like a fool. Obviously Rajas departure put a slight delay on stopgap products, and if you want a new card, you'll have to wait for 2019. In the meantime there are still gpus available at every price point that fits your budget. Now if you want to complain that Nvidia is holding back new tech, you might be able to get some traction.

this isnt really a rebrand, its just adding a designator for oem cards. oems have had models that weren't on the open market with differing models #s/specs before...
