Names, date of births, Social Security numbers, and home addresses were not the only data exposed from the Equifax leak: according to documents provided to the Senate Banking Committee, tax IDs, as well as the states and issuing dates of driver's licenses, were also leaked.

Equifax spokesperson Meredith Griffanti told CNNMoney Friday that the original list of vulnerable personal information was never intended to represent the full list of potentiality exposed information. The new documents now raise questions of how much information hackers may have accessed in Equifax's cyberattack.

"only our dispute department has been compromised"

---- During proceedings one of the senators held up a full credit report of his niece, and said it was obtained in a data dumb from the hack.....

I still dont get how people are surprised that info "not in the dispute department" was compromised.....

This whole thing is fucking bullshit

Both the Trump administration and the Republicans in Congress have taken action.

And let me circumenvent the conservative keyboard warriors and follow up that I'm neither a Democract or Republican, I just like to call out bullshit and hypocrisy when I see it. Give me another 15 minutes and I bet I could find some Democrats who are equally culpable in this Equifax mess. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if I decided to hack all of the Senate and Congress, I wouldn't be surprised ½ of them have been sponsored by Equifax. Point is fellas, we do not live in a functioning democracy anymore. But I digress, I need a new video card, anyone want to sponsor me :p?

I typically vote conservative... this past year had me vote the opposite for the first time for the presidency (but kept locals conservative). At this point, from the lack of addressing important topics such as these I will be completely shifting my votes.

I (almost) never vote for any incumbent, even if he or she has failed to look retarded yet. I firmly believe that politicians are like diapers, they should only ever be used once and then immediately be removed and replaced.

Failure to do so results in a big, shitty mess.

Look, we all know in a real free market we could just hijack a semi full of graphics cards, mine coin, and pay for our own justice.

This is clearly the government's fault.

At this point it's pretty fair to assume both sides are almost completely corrupted.

"Conservatism" went tits-up in the 2016 election. But for that matter, so did the Democratic party.

Now as for paying in Bitcoin for Arizona taxes...Interesting thing to do, but they are going to have to be really careful with the online stuff.

You could have, but you didn't. It's one of the things I strongly dislike about H, the constant and unprovoked bashing of the non-left.

Eh, I wouldn't say [H] is constantly bashing the non-left, but you do see the regular crowds try and express their angst over and over again. The same old escape words are getting boring, though. "I'm not L or R, but..." "I am sure both sides are bad." etc

I strongly believe the usage of those weasel words are a reliable indicator of extreme bias being presented as "neutral fact."

I'd say your comment epitomizes weasel words.
Quite frequently, comments here are politicized without provocation or reason and are always hard-left.

Hard to escape politics when it pokes and prods into some serious choices with some very real consequences. Good or Bad.

Nothing wrong with politics as long as they aren't censored or oppressed, isn't that the issue here? I thought politicizing was verboden.

It's not unprovoked, it's a fact of reality. To deny that is to deny American history because it's already transpired. Did you read the articles and sources I listed? The litany of evidence is all out in the open and right there, and they're not even denying it anymore. That's one of the things I strongly dislike about this country, is nobody takes a few minutes out of their day anymore to actually read the articles, instead it's 144 character defensive rants or ad-hominem attacks instead of debating the actual issues themselves And guess what... both sides are throwing feces at each other. In this particular case however, it's the Republicans this time doing absolutely everything in their power so that Equifax walks away without any accountability, and you know why? Regulatory Capture.

Does it not sound ludicrous that an inquiry to the Equifax probe was halted by Mick Mulvaney, head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, who I might add was appointed by Trump. Probably not because you did not read a single article I posted. How about this, since I forgot to add it: Three senior executives sold $1.8 million of their shares a few days after the hack, and conveniently played the innocent card by saying they were unaware. Meanwhile, millions of Americans private information have been exposed: we're talking about 143 million accounts. Not records. Accounts. Credit history. Authentication information. SPI. And so on. And now CFPB's hands have been tied by a Trump appointed nominee. The same thing is going on with the Environment Protection Agency, the Department of Education, and the Department of Energy. Obama isn't immune either, just like the revolving door his entire cabinet consisted of nothing but bankers, the same group responsible for the mortgage crisis itself.

The real tragedy is the Democrats in office have absolutely no spine and they're not going to do anything either but instead show solidarity by tweeting their opposition to their colleagues on the right. That way they can say they're speaking for the people. But it's all bullshit and playing to their base for votes. People talk about too much government is bad. But this is what happens when corporations are deregulated and are free to run amok. They gamble with the citizen's money with predatory mortgage loans thereby creating crashing the market. Then they launder billions of dollars for the Mexican cartel but only get fined 5 weeks worth of revenue. And both the Democrats and Republicans are responsible because they're focused on campaign donations and the next election cycle. And guess why? They're owned by corporations. If you haven't figured that out yet, I'm sorry son you have some reading to do which is literally going to take you quitting your job and spending two years reading the last 40 years of American history and globalization and its impact on American society.

If you want to get mad, point your finger at the CEO's amassing billions of dollars of wealth meanwhile 63% of Americans don't have don't have enough saved for a $500 emergency. If you want to get mad, get mad that Disney for laying off their IT employees to cheaper, outsourced H-1B labor. Which by the way, they also trained their replacements in the process. If you want to get mad, get mad at Comcast and Verizon for lobbying Congress and getting one of their own foxes to run the hen house to strip Net Neutrality. If you want to get mad, get mad at the heir of Du Point avoiding jail time for raping his 3 year old daughter because the judge believed he "woudn't fair well in jail."

Nobody goes to jail.

Moral of the story mi amigo is the situation in this country is going to continue to get worse until the citizens of this country wake up and realize both the left/right paradigm does not care about you or your loved ones. We live in plutocracy ruled by billionaires and corporations who have created a system that no longer functions optimally. All of this bullshit with Equifax is business as usual and more than likely none of the executives will be prosecuted but instead be fined only 5% billions of dollars worth of information that's now in the hands of hackers.who are doing god knows what with it. Just like Wells Fargo recently when they opened up fake accounts, which they were doing since 2006 even.

But if you really want to get angry, just look in the mirror... because at the end of the day we're all guilty for our collective ignorance and apathy. So where's my video card at brah!?

News flash! USA has never been a democracy, founding fathers hated democracies. It is a Representative Constitutional Republic with a Bill of Rights. The most populous states don't dictate or solely decide Presidential elections as an example (Checks and Balances) due to electoral votes. All previous forms of Democracies failed, eventually they became mob rule.

The issue with constant breaches, compromises to your private information (your information) is current ways of doing things being heavily centralized allows for concentrated attacks and findings of weaknesses. Equifax is not the only one with breached of information. Address the real issue in other words.

One method that has proven effective is BlockChain except for the endpoints (exchanges) but is being used now beyond currencies. Many changes are going to happen. Once a bank or two are totally compromised for all accounts - it will force the issue.

I read the first 7 words of your post and realized great here's some conjecture. hooray useless provocateur.

ponder the following if you will:

a company has your personal data (with or without your knowledge or consent) and their system gets hacked and then it's YOUR responsibility to prove your innocents if someone assumes your ID.

Really, think about that for a microsecond ...

Here, it's easy:

Both the Democrats and Republicans, regardless of their traditional stances in history have become almost completely corrupted. It's not an exact mirror image, they still love to disagree on social issues that don't have much real world impact, and they usually operate in different ways, but we get taken to the same place, just at different speeds. Now INDIVIDUALS on the left or right can still be good people and have sensible ideas, but the parties are done. They're completely rotted at this point. To say otherwise is either delusion or ignorance of just how extensive the damage is.

So yeah, while people can pick individual topics to make one side look better or worse, if you look at the whole picture, the corruption is so bad it's kind of like comparing a serial killer who smooth talks his way into his victim's homes vs. someone that routinely kills pedestrians via hit and run in his car. I GUESS the smooth talking serial killer is worse? That's really how I see these debates of the modern political parties.

Politicizing means choosing a side. Right, left, makes no difference. Our representatives have been bought and sold, and no longer represent us. They represent the 1% and corporate interests, while the rest of the country tears itself apart fighting battles between the left and the right. We're playing right into their game. Time to declare this whole experiment a failure. Time to forget which "side" we are on and unite against the oligarchy. It doesn't have to be a violent revolution; imagine the power we would wield if we pulled our money out of the stock market, stopped paying our credit card bills, stopped paying our mortgages....

I think your 1/2 is way low. I bet that if one could unwind all of the SuperPAC -> PAC -> Unaffiliated Supporting Committee -> Campaign Committee money flows, that one would find that close to 100% of elected officials have accepted money from Equifax. If any normal person did their finances this way, they would likely attract a money laundering investigation. When Congress does it, it is protected 1st amendment freedom of expression.

I didnt get the memo. Im right wing and I feel there are a fair number here like me.

It's insane. A company most of us have never dealt wit, let alone signed contracts with, holds this much information on us. Absolutely impossible to justify its existence.

Amarica where companies and the government are more important than citizens, because companies are the only one with enough money to run for presidency

I typically vote conservative... this past year had me vote the opposite for the first time for the presidency
So you were willing to acquiese at least 2 supreme court seats to the biggest progressive in history we would have had to a SCOTUS that is at best split.
(but kept locals conservative).
what would be the point.

The terms "left", "right", "socialist", "fascist", etc. are meaningless labels at this point. There are really two types of people when it comes to politics: Those that wish people to be controlled, an those that have no such desire.
