New renders of Microsoft’s mythical Surface Phone reveal a dual-screened computer with OLED displays and glass sides that can be folded. The device also features a modified low-profile USB-C port, which presumably keeps the device as slim as possible when folded.

Some of our readers have been saying that Microsoft has just been filing patents, but I believe the volume and detail of the patents suggest the opposite and that work is indeed progressing. Recall that Microsoft’s executives continue to talk about game-changing designs coming. We should also not forget about all the dual-screened references in Microsoft’s software and operating system.

I think it's pretty clear, based on recent announcements, when Joe Belfiore announced the end for Windows 10 Mobile, he was referring to the end of development for the existing mobile OS, not the end of Microsoft's mobile efforts, entirely.

Microsoft still believes they can have a future in mobile devices, even if that future doesn't incorporate traditional phones. Though with what we've already seen from Windows 10S on a Qualcomm SoC, I wouldn't put it past a third-party partner to try to capitalize on the remaining Windows Phone fan base with a traditional phone offering.

Whatever future may exist for Windows on a smartphone, it *ah hem* hinges on the foldable devices we're now glimpsing. #sorrynotsorry

Windows Mobile is still my favorite mobile OS. If I could run/emulate x86 software, and plug into a monitor and keyboard at the end of the day... Instant sell. The folding design would just be icing.

If they put a full version of Windows 10 on it and allowed me to connect it to an external monitor I'd buy it.

I believe this will run Windows 10 on ARM just like they showcase the HP and Acer (or was it Asus?) 2 in 1 devices. Add continuum to this and you have a game changer.

I'll always say they should have just bought the I.P. for the Ubuntu Edge smartphone years ago and developed that into something, I mean look at this thing, it's practically a spawn of the original Surface Tablet with the same angles and surfaces (no pun intended):

IDIOTS. :D

I think I'd actually give a flagship phone of this a spin. I'm getting bored with Android. All the flagship Android phones are full of gimmicky features I have absolutely zero use for and are losing all the features I actually do utilize.

So my Sony died about 6 weeks ago and Im using my 2 year old Microsoft 950 xl and OMG I love it days out of 1 charge Cortana reading my texts to me as i drive and then replying for me. all the apps i need (Facebook, Instagram, maps and Yes Parking notes..) but still some bugs like my 2009 jeep thinking everything from cortana is a phone call and says Call ended after everything she says like " turn now!" I think Microsoft got so close with the 950 and the 950XL and my Sony xperia xz has way more issues like wiping the phone overnight when it updates and overheating and draining a full battery in 4 hours when using maps.. I hope the fight is not over as it will make google lazy and I don't want to use any Apple products.
