StudioMDHR has announced that its first effort, Cuphead, has sold over one million units across PC and Xbox One since its release on September 29. It’s a classic run-and-gun action game with a large focus on boss battles where players take on the role as the game’s namesake (or Mugman) in single-player or local co-op. I decided to put it on my wishlist as soon as I saw the graphics style.

Hello friends! Cuphead has only been out for two weeks and we never could have dreamed of the reception we’ve received from our amazing fans! Today, we wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for your support and we’re excited to share that Cuphead has gone platinum with over 1 million units sold! We have worked tirelessly over the past few years to deliver a game that remained true to our vision and we are both humbled and excited that so many people from around the world are playing Cuphead – it truly makes it all worth it.

What the hell did I just watch? I'd like to have some of what they were imbibing!

Good for them.

To me, the mugheads look like a mix of:
Mickey Mouse - body (shoes and gloves)
Felix the cat... facial expression on initial video sceen
Betty Boop - Eyes.

The game looks very old-time cartoon-ish. Putting on my wishlist :-D

The graphics are refreshing , but it's soooo unrealistic! Hehehe

Local pill pushing doc got arrested, so they had to raid the mini bar, and raid the nail polish remover and mom's craft box for some inspiration.

got this on release and was blown away by how amazing the game is. Amazing graphics, production value, and boss designs. The difficulty is extremely high compared to your common platformer so beware if you are not familiar with nes era difficulty like ghouls and goblins. After you beat the game you can go back through and redo all the bosses (many) on Extreme mode to really complete the challenge of the game. It's remarkably rewarding. most of the levels are only a minute or two long, so even though you might fail on one 50 times, each time you learn a little more and you don't have to do massive backtracking.

Honestly this is my GOTY so far.

Glad to hear it. The game is amazing. But it is also soooooo frustrating. I have completed only 2 worlds and now I have to take a long break because the difficulty makes my hemorroids explode. God damn it is a brutal game... But it's also so pretty to look at and and listen to. Hand drawing every single animation on paper may have been a daunting process but it paid off, it is so organic looking. One of the most beautiful looking games I have ever seen.

That is great to see for this company they deserve it. Cuphead is frustratingly hard but such a beautiful game. Worth every penny

Exactly. I love this style of graphics and game. The graphics and gameplay look super excellent. I moved it to the top of my 3 item wishlist which are all indie games.

A Boy and His Blob is super excellent. The soundtrack is to die for.

Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons is also epic.

Child of Light is another great game.

Dust: An Elysian Tale is another.

The Giana Sisters games are very good as well.

Trine and Trine 2 are great.

There is something to be said for indie game publishers. A lot of the indie games interest me more than most of the big studio games.

I really dig the art style but it makes my head hurt trying to sort out whatever is going on.
Information overload.

Good. Cupheads is seriously amazing.

I bought two games on the same day; Cupheads and Forza 7. Forza is absolute rubbish and hasn't been played while Cupheads has dominated my console time. I payed 5 times more for Forza.

Definitely a little up the list in terms of difficulty; don't think I've cussed as much at a game since Ori, but I still keep coming back. Amazing graphics. Well worth the $20.

Good for them.

Personally I have zero interest in a platformer, any platformer, in 2017, but it does look like a well made platformer with a classic steamboat Willie (but with a cup for a head) theme.

Last platformer I played was Commander Keen in the early 90's, and even then I was kind of amused that I was actually doing it, because platformers felt so 80's 8bit NES...

It just screams classic walt disney cartoon's to me. In every way. No doubt inspired by as they were growing up!
