Hey guys!

I need some quick help picking up my 1070. I've been with a 7970 for almost 4 years so time to upgrade.

I've narrowed it down to evga founders edition, ASUS STRIX or MSI Gaming X.

Heard that EVGA has the best warranty and support ever, while ASUS and MSI is basically a tie. Regarding the cards themselves, ASUS seems to have the best coolers and performance, then MSI, then evga founders. Finally, read that ASUS 1070 have been suffering from a couple of problems and they refuse to acknowledge them, so that steered me a bit away from it.

What do you think? Should I compromise a bit in performance and go with the evga for the peace of mind? I CANT get another evga card. Only founders available here, otherwise I wouldnt have this concern.

Nah, Asus is terrible for support especially with regards to gpus. They make good stuff, it's just if it goes bad it can all go south due to their support. Are you air only? What kind of case, big or small, etc. Where is here, eu?

Yeah Im on air. Corsair micro-atx case. 2x noctua intake, 1x noctua exhaust.
I'm on south america.

So asus is out? MSI vs evga founders?

Between the MSI Gaming and the Founders, I would take the MSI easy. That cooler is excellent.

What sort of practical difference will I notice with the MSI cooler? I'm somewhat afraid of trading the coolers, which may not make a big difference, for a bad warranty process later.

No trading out coolers. MSI Gaming card has a good cooler is what he is saying. It will run quieter and get better boost clocks.

I have a MSI 1070 Gaming X , I never hear it when playing games @ high settings ever. It's co quiet and runs so cool.

I just picked up the Zotac GTX 1070 Amp Extreme. Only 1 full cover waterblock and it's from Bitspower. Dam pricetag made me run away from it. Hopefully the massive air cooler the 1070 has will keep temps in check. I still don't see why the 1070 FE is more expensive as it's the lowest clocked/vanilla version with that dam squirrel cage blower pos.

Assuming a normal ATX case with decent ventilation, I'd go with Gigabyte or MSI, based on which was cheaper, if I just planned to plug the thing in and play games.

If you're using an ITX case, or wanting to do water cooling or something, Founder's Edition, or the low-end blower-equipped models.

Sure, they arent very heavy though.

I agree with the Asus support comments, I suffered too.
That was almost 6 years ago and its still happening this year.
Seems Endemic.
I have had no issues with the card in my sig.
Unless you are donating it, I'm not sure how that helps.

It's an ASUS, one of the brands mentioned in the thread. It's called anecdotal evidence. Then again, the rest of your reply is just snarky so maybe I shouldn't feed the troll.

ASUS is great...till it isn't just do a search here on ASUS support issues. I'm one among the many unfortunately. cI've got the Gigabyte G1 gaming and couldn't be happier .. lol except maybe with a 1080 :)

My point is that they dont have 100% quality control, you are fortunate to have no issues.
The op has no guarantee of as good an experience unless he is given one such as yours.
If you get a faulty one outside of shop warranty then you either take a total loss or subject yourself to Asus support.
The Asus lottery isnt one I would partake in unless there was no choice.

ps the first part of my comment was meant to be mildy amusing.
The rest I posted wasnt snarky, it was relevant.

I've had a ton of ASUS components and only one issue that I never bothered to RMA. So, ya, I've been pretty lucky. My house must be an anti-MSI zone as all MSI components that have been in here have failed mildly or spectacularly.

Fair enough. With the additional comment I see where you're going. I withdraw the reference to trolls.

FWIW I have always had good luck with MSI products. Had one RMA and had to call them one night at around 7:00 PM EST and someone answered immediately and there were no language barriers we had to work through.

I've only ever bought one MSI video card and that was a Geforce2 way back. Last two cards have been Gigabyte. They seem to give best price for OC cards that I have seen, except Zotac who I have no experience with.

EVGA or MSI. Warranty is transferable and both brands have a great resale value.
