It looks as though Microsoft has finally fixed that security flaw that was being actively exploited by a spearphishing campaign that is believed to have originated in Russia. The update applies to all versions of Windows, from Vista through Windows 10.

This security update resolves vulnerabilities in Microsoft Windows. The most severe of the vulnerabilities could allow elevation of privilege if an attacker logs on to an affected system and runs a specially crafted application that could exploit the vulnerabilities and take control of an affected system.

Didn't we read here that Patch Tuesday had gone the way of some extinct creature?

the patch only downloads the parts you need, so if you have been keeping up with your updates, it won't be anywhere near 900MB. my computer only needed to download around 140MB for the patch. still not a tiny patch, by any means, but not the largest, either.

Warning I installed the November Security Quality patch and it installed DiagTrack telemetry to my Win 7 machine. I nuked it via the instructions listed here.

I had a feeling that M$ would sneak that into a patch.

Anyways, thanks for the heads up, disabled the Diagnostic Tracking Service (for now anyways)
