microcenter in-store only: 512GB SSD $75 Micron M.2

I've been buying this up as they come in stock. I go through maybe 1 or 2 a month with client builds. Great price. Most clients are cheap and opt for 256. I actually suggest the 256 and this gives me an upgrade path with the client later on.

Just curious, are these micro ssd's becoming the norm now? Are they faster than a traditional SSD being used via SATA? I've never really ventured into the micron ssd realm if someone can care to explain.

I don't believe so. This is the first time I've used any outside of ultrabooks. I know some of the high end motherboards have an m.2 slot built in but I believe those are PCIe. In case you didn't know, m.2 is just the name of the connector, and the connector can be used for sata or pcie, but they are not interchangeable (you can't use a m.2 sata drive on a m.2 pcie connector even though they will physically fit together).

That said, I found a dual m.2 sata-to-2.5" bay adapter for $16 at Microcenter so it isn't that difficult to make the adjustment when there's a good deal on a drive.

I got one of these and was dumb enough to assume that it would work with my pcie slot on my Rampage V.

Does anyone want it? I can ship it to you for the price I paid for it and shipping. I used the 5 dollar coupon too so that took care of the tax for the most part. Its also in a very tiny box so shipping won't cost much.

Edit: Sold to a fellow [H]er

Just ordered 4 from KC store. i wont need them all. Ill post back once they are picked up and in hand.

The Microcenter in houston had like 10 yesterday... I almost bought some.. but talked myself out of it.. didnt need anymore... 1Tb or more from now on :)

The 256GB is $50+tax with the retailmenot coupon. Also, something to note, but the 256GB version at Microcenter is actually a 2260 size, not a 2280 like the page lists (and that listing in BST for $80 a piece). Actually, it appears all the m.2 M600s they're selling are 2260.

Also, for those looking for a small and cheap m.2 SSD, there's also a 128GB Micron M600 that's listed as "Micronet" but is really Micron for $33, which comes down to $28+tax.

Hey, the sku for the coupon is serialized or one time use. Does anyone know if this is per acct?

I noticed the MN store had 1 in stock. Ordered for pickup and grabbed it during lunch today. I didn't really need to upgrade, but at this price I figured why not. I was able to use the $5 off coupon.

If you reload the page in incognito or a private window or the like, you should be able to get a new one. Clearing cookies and stuff might also accomplish the same thing, but I usually just get a coupon and then close the incognito window and open it again. It's up the to store/manager to enforce the one per household limit, but the register will only limit it to one coupon per transaction. I have used the coupon multiple times without issue, but YMMV. Also, if you're using the coupon on an order that only has open box/clearance/combo items that are getting a discount off the original price (due to being the clearance discount or the bundle discount), the coupon will not be able to attach itself to anything to apply the discount, and you'll need a manager override to manually take the $5 off something.

Thank you thank you thank you.

Apparently 4 in stock at the GA Marietta store. I'd been considering it on and off, but the thing is M2 just sounds like a pain. I wish a plain Jane sata3 SSD would go on a sale like this. =\

^ Not anymore. Bought all four for $70 each.

... Well I'm glad you either have that many M2 slots or are that interested in scalping. I only ever use these type of deals for personal use. Props if you're actually selling them to other members at break even prices though. I'm too lazy.

Last I saw Colorado had some, but I'm in California, checking daily with no luck.... :(

Random side question: anyone know of an inexpensive but quality external HD caddy (USB3) to put an m.2 drive into?

512GB SSD in a small transportable case would be really useful. 1TB would be better of course, but hey, price are what they are.

Newegg shows a couple, not sure which kind of m.2 drives they take. Looks like $25-$35.

Just grabbed the last one in STL. I was going to grab a spare or 2 for my fellow [H] but they only had the one. :(

Now showing up not as "SOLD OUT" but "NOT CARRIED" by the Fairfax VA store. I think it's dead (or dying), Jim.

Went about my usual morning routine, part of it is checking stock on this thing, when I got interrupted.

A minute ago I pick up my phone and see in stock locally 2! Oh crap, but it's been on my phone idle for over an hour!!! So rush to add them to cart only to see them sold out again. Well damn....

Orange County, CA.

They never have it in stock in the Columbus, OH location. Does MicroCenter only order low stocks of these or is their online website just not up to date?

Hopefully something like this will show up for 1TB (or larger) drives. Games have gotten ridiculously large.

I placed two orders for one each yesterday. I just got email that the items have shipped!!!
