Yes, if you've bought this you can Step Up to a GTX 1070 with no loss of value. I called to confirm.

Yeah i was reading through the thread and saw it then i pulled the trigger.

Thanks for check! Cheers

So tempted to buy one of these for SLI and decimate a 1080 but the lower power draw of the new cards is definitely attractive. Though that thread that was posted about 1080 issues definitely makes me take pause.

Newegg had the MSI Gaming Golden ed. for $370 AR. $400 without rebate.

Looks like it went back up to $420 AR.

Yeah but msi dont got step up....so yeah......personally im doing it to hold me over till theres more 1070s in stock

For people looking to go SLI it was a good deal. With the cheapest 1070s being $420? wasn't a bad deal either way.

Just spoke with an EVGA rep on the phone. He said that Newegg is an authorised retailer, and if purchased via Newegg's Ebay storefront YOU ARE ELIGIBLE for step up - as long as you register your card within 14 days, start the step up process within 90 days, and upload your Newegg invoice.

Edit: He mentioned that that particular question gets asked a lot, so I'm surprised that they haven't modified their step-up page to be clear on the matter.

interesting. I wonder why mine wasn't eligible then? It was well within the window to stepup

at any rate, thanks for checking. I'll edit my post

Ordered mine this morning, got it same day about an hour ago. Registered with EVGA and will step up to the 1070/1080 in a month or so. Coming from a GTX770 im pretty excited.

me too! LOL just ordered yesterday, received this morning. GG, love newegg.

Just a thought for anyone who also ordered...

make sure when you register you put newegg not ebay or Other (ebay-newegg). I put other then put ebay newegg and it said i was not allowed to step up. I quickly contacted support and within 30 mins problem was fixed for me. woot woot 1070 here i come.

Yes and also chat with NewEgg and get an official invoice emailed to you. You need it to upload to EVGA. Looks like ill be stepping up to the GTX 1080 for about $200 as soon as it becomes available.

yeah? i just took pictures of my order and paypal invoice and evga was fine with it.

i'm assuming they looked at my invoice before changing my error for me.

yeah stepping up to the 1070 for 10 bucks. LOL

1080 is overkill for what i game at.

These came without the backplate correct?

correct, makes no difference to me. just did it so i can do the stepup program.

I did the same. I'm also curious about what will happen over the next 90 days. We may see a slight price drop on the FE cards with the coming AMD release ( just a guess). I'm going to hold out until the very end to StepUp.

Also, the deal is DEAD.

Ah.....smart....imma go do that too lol im not going for the fe just the acx 3.0 one

Also, if you can get a Newegg invoice, you can claim the $20 rebate currently on their website for this card.

I just contacted Newegg Live Chat and received two official Newegg.com invoices.
The total cost for each card will be $389, with 90 days to Step Up!
With eBay Bucks of $8.20, my final cost was $381.

Hmmm 400 -20 dollars plus step up? Waiting in que for 1070 acx 3.0. Win! Im loving my card right now. Clocked at 1675ish or something right now. Forget exactly not home right now. Was 1707 mhz last night by had to down clock it 25.

If someone wants a 980ti as a permanant card than that msi wouldnt be bad

I would wait for them to start selling at 300 in the forums. Hopefully by the time I build my rig. For 300 or less I will grab 980ti in a heart beat. Don't matter if it's used. Been always good experience with our lovely FS-TRADE FORUMS. If not I will probably get an aftermarket rx 480 and overclock the crap out of it if rumors are true. My passion for best bang for my buck keeps me away from fanboy camp lol.

I'll hazard that will not happen for a while.

I say that because everyone now knows that the 1080s are ~15% faster (depends on application, sometimes it is just 5%) than a 980 Ti, and the $400+ 1070 trades blows, and is oft slower, with the 980 Ti. And yes, I am speaking of overclocked vs. overclocked.

I've seen used 980 Ti's pop up for $400 (and get sold really fast), but I've not seen any below that.

EDIT: Here's a video demonstrating the 1070 getting pummeled by the 980 Ti when both are overclocked:

If I can find a brand new 980 Ti EVGA/MSI/Asus for around high $300's I'll definitely pick one up.

Would this hit 1500 on air?

Tough to say. I have the ones from the original sale and they run at 1500MHz but they need water to keep them there and to go higher.
I would assume this will be the case for the updated card as well. Classified and KPE run better on water because of the hotter components from the extra power they consume.

Currently I have mine running at 1455 in SLI, but I'm sure under water I can get them close 1500MHz together. ASIC 73 and 76.
Temps affect the OC more than anything with these cards..

thanks for the info. Loving the price drops here. < 400 usd 980ti's is a great value.

Worth $450 new?

The one I listed comes with the updated version of the cooler and backplate.
The backplate alone is worth $30 and not sold separately. The updated cooler version could be worth more to you as well.

This card will beat a GTX 1070 at 4K out of the box (1400Mhz boost) and continue OC past it. You can wait for a bigger price drop, but these classy cards aren't going to be around for too much longer.

For 4K gaming with OC, the 980Ti is a marginally better option if power consumption isn't a concern. Anything under $380 new, I would say pick one up. Classifieds will be a little more but worth it.

Pretty much what I went for, while not a Classified, I think it was a good buy, and I have been waiting forever to upgrade, waiting for the 1070/1080 to come into stock and then to drop down to MSPR will be a little while. It also has a $30 rebate, so under $400 after taxes, last one in stock.

OC vs OC it's faster than a 1070 so it's a good buy. Maxwell and Pascal are nearly identical so there shouldn't be driver nerfs either.

This same type of thing happened when the 970 launched and the 780/Ti were slightly cheaper. Performance was close and some people were happy to get those Kepler cards for cheap. Fast forward a year later and people who had Kepler cards were getting pissed that their cards weren't seeing performance improvements like the newer Maxwell hardware... Nvidia drivers update change logs are often full of game performance improvements that only applied to Maxwell hardware. This got to the point where people were outright accusing Nvidia of needing Kepler performance. "Marginally better now" for around $400 isn't good enough for a lot of people, newer architectures are almost always better supported.

Totally different situation because Kepler and Maxwell were very different. That isn't the case this time around as Maxwell and Pascal are near identical and driver improvements should happen for both regularly. So far from the tests I've seen that has been the case.

Key words here are "should happen".
