Are you upgrading to the 1080 GTX?

Are you upgrading to 1080 GTX from a 980 Ti

I'll wait for a 4k60fps single GPU solution. While the 1080 is technically an upgrade from a 980ti, it's still not 4k60fps capable.

Likely, but I'll wait until 30 June (last day to Step-Up at EVGA), if necessary, in hopes of getting a non-FE SC something with an ACX config. I'm still setting up the new system and have barely used the 980 Ti yet. The cost to upgrade for me is minimal compared to what I've already spent. There may not be as great a performance increase over the 980 Ti as some had hoped for, but I'm still running my SLI EVGA 8800 GTS 512 (G92) system at the moment. I'm sure to be just as satisfied with my 980 Ti for years should I decide not to upgrade, but I'm interested in the simultaneous multi-projection demonstrated at Austin for possible future monitor upgrades. It's demonstrated at about the 35 minute mark of the vid.

Here's a nice comparison graph - OC'ed 1080 vs OC'ed 980Ti in a bunch of different games:

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 im Test (Seite 12)

Bottom line, no, just isn't worth pursuing at this point for those of us with OC'ed 980Ti's. I'll just sit tight till the 1080Ti or something like it arrives. Apples to apples, chasing a 10-15% performance bump just isn't worth it to me.

Thanks for this. Hadn't seen these numbers. Not worth it tbh.

I will be waiting for a 1080ti, or whatever it ends up being called.
Although, funny thing is - in Norway at least, a few months ago there were no used 980ti for sale. Now there are at least 20.

Waiting as well. I will see how 1080Ti turns out. I think it will be the first 4k@60fps capable card, depending on the game :)
AMD is not an option. They seem to have given up the high end fight. But I hope that Vega in October will push release date of 1080Ti to around October release.

If I had the cash I'd sell my 980 and get a 1080.

Nope. I was thinking about it, but now that prices on used 980Tis have started to tank there's no point -- I'd likely be in like $600 after reselling my cards to get back in to SLI, and that's just stupid.

Instead I got a bigger PSU for way less cash (picked up a 1200w off a fellow [H], should be here tomorrow) and will be pushing my OC. The 750w Corsair was holding out fine with the mild factory OC my cards run, but I doubt it will be up to task for what Im planning to push.

Looks like the higher the res you're running the smaller the 1080's lead vs. an OCed 980Ti, and while I'm not quite at 4K (where it looks to be a dead heat in a lot of cases) I'm close, at 3440x1440. So I'll stick with my cards for now.

Want quad SLI 980Ti's
This dude is selling a pair for $700,
GTX 980 Ti

I'll consider depending on 1070 vs 1080 performance. 1080 is already 20-25% faster than 980ti, which is a bigger difference than 780ti vs 980 was at the star. The gap will only increase with maturing drivers. I'm also not sure there will be any 1080ti this time.

Would have to get a whole new system to support it. Plus it doesn't work worth a shit in most titles (as I'm sure you know). Would be lying to say I'm not still strangely tempted -- I ran Tri-SLI with 8800 GTXs back in the day. It was horrible, almost useless... but some small, stupid part of me still misses it.

I've never ran SLI or Crossfire. I did use multiple cards in machines over the years, but that was for multi monitor support.

I never go beyond 2 cards in SLI or Crossfire. There is no benefit IMO past that.

Damn straight.
Two.
Maybe........unless I hear there's going to be a GTX 1080 Ti.

I mean shit, it beats down my 980 Tis by 30%.....!!!!!!

I have 980 ti in SLI and it runs pretty much everything at 1440p so maybe not just yet. Might wait til 1080 Ti's.

My 980Ti Hydro is working well for my Ultrawide monitor and it is just a few months old. I will hold out for a Pascal Titan with Hydro cooling or a 1080Ti Hydro. I love the lower temps of the Hydro model and am content to wait. Besides, late this year or early next year works better for me for an expensive high end purchase like that.
