It's silky and "butterly smooth".

Should we not wait until it gets benched first?
Also faster than Titan X, I mean 980Ti made Titan X pointless for a reason.
Other than that I am impressed, cannot wait to see the benches.

Hmm.....
I'm thinking the 1080 is only about 5% if that, faster than a 980ti @ 1500/7000.

Alot of this presentation was grey.

Impressive power numbers though.

Faster is Faster... and if you factor in the power draw and the heat......

No one's denying it looks better but this is PR and we're trying to separate the salt from our reality. No need to drool over a sales presentation.

I want to know price, and if the Ti will blow this away as the 980Ti did to the 980 vanilla.

Exactly. They want you to be wowed. I myself will be waiting for the HBM2 Titan Variant or Ti variant in Spring. From a gaming standpoint, it doesn't matter how powerful the cards are, if the games are poorly coded and don't work properly. Yes, I know you can use the cards for other things. Patience is a virtue.

this number sums up the
  • 1607 MHz Base Clock (8.2 TFLOPs)
  • 1733 MHz Boost Clock (8.9 TFLOPs)
reference reported clocks.

It's not really faster than the fury x/980ti in compute at stock clocks anyways. (fury x 8.5 TFLOPS) (980ti 5.63 TFLOPS) of course there is more to gpu performance than just compute performance.

but something tells me gaming performance of the 1080 will be very similar to a 980ti in everything besides vr (in which the 1080 will do a lot better), the 1070 on the other hand will likely be slower than the 980ti in everything minus vr and it's priced at (380$)

this actually makes me more excited for the Polaris cards as they will likely be cheaper, and offer up 1070 performance (maybe)

Going to sell my vram limited 970s and pick up the 1070 just for the bump in ram. Playing at 4k is killing them..hope there as fast as there making them out to be..

Did they discuss power draw?
I'll be building a system and wanna know how big a PSU I should get

That bodes well for the 1060 working well in the HD Plex case in a totally silent build.

Assuming GP106 is 20 SMs, we could be looking at a 1600Mhz+ 1280cc card at 100w. Should be a nice upgrade from the 960.

I'm thinking it'll have either 8Ghz GDDR5 on a 192-bit bus or they'll stick to 128-bit and wait till GDDR5x volumes and pricing are in better shape.

The 1080 is a little rich for my paycheck, but that 1070 is very appealing.
Maybe I missed it, but what was the benefit of the Founder's edition?

Wonder how this will compare to my stock 780. I still think the 780 is more than enough for most games.

i highly doubt its faster than 2 980s in SLI.

For VR, it probably will be because of the new viewport technology. For those of us who couldn't care less about VR, it's not twice as fast from their own performance tests of The Witcher and Tomb Raider. And once real world tests come, rather than a manufacturer test, we'll see for ourselves. It's not worth trusting a manufacturer's benchmarks on their latest and greatest. Of course they'll spin it in the best possible light.

I just want to see how one 1080 / 1070 compares to 980 SLI in gaming when SLi works. If it can win there then I'm convinced.

In VR, overclocked.
Nope. It's "twice as fast as a 980" in VR, due to the multi-port and view warping tech removing passes. That's the statement they made.

It's "faster than a 980 SLI or a Titan X" outside VR. Clocks weren't referenced in that statement.

The Titan X was 30% slower than gtx 980 sli (when sli is working) its not a far stretch to see this card hit 980 sli performance.

Link?

And of course it's overclocked. Standard version runs at 1.7Ghz, the presentation ran at 2.1Ghz.

what will happens to the prices if this hit the market before AMD? for the price asked, it only needs to beat 970 SLI.
