I'm going to sell my old T430s and I'm looking at buying a tablet in its place. My main uses for the tablet will be, surfing, watching DIY videos, udemy training courses, reading, and some mid level woodworking plans in sketch up.

Thoughts?

Grab a Pro 3 used with 8 gig. My buddy does the same stuff, minus woodworking, on his and loves the kickstand for watching udemy and taking notes.

Depends on if upgradability is important at all. The surface line of tablets you're stuck with whatever storage you bought it with. The Venue 11 line has a removable back so you can get at the m.2 slot.

that's only partially true. the innards are not easily accessible on the security line of tablets if you get the 7039 version.

OP,

I don't know how MS support is now but it has been my experience when dealing with Xbox 360 failures they are a week turnaround time. Dell is 4 days if you ship it in (not counting weekends. IE, you call Monday you have box Tuesday you send it in Tuesday you have it back Thursday. If you have Next day support. it is typically 1 day or 2 days depending upon parts delivery and when you make appointment (tech calls you).

My tablet repair was initiated via Dell Chat on Saturday night, Tuesday I had the box, Thursday my tablet was back in my hands and good to go. No problems since.

I'm Dell Certified so I might be able to get around all of that nonsense and just have them ship me the part. I repair them on a daily basis but it's due to customers failure to properly take care of their corporate devices.

If you care about the stylus get the Surface, the one for the Dell Venue is terrible.

what is the physical size restraints for the .m2 that goes into the security edition?

I have a 7139 security model so I was wanting to know the physical size limitations

thanks

We have been using the Venue line for quite some time now at work, and I can categorically say they are not very reliable and have issues.

? I'm quite happy with the Venue 11 Pro, i5-4300Y + 4GB/128GB. Good performance.

That's interesting. Many consider the dell stylus a better, and cheaper, option for the HP Spectre x360 than getting the HP stylus :)

Mostly because the Spectre stylus is awful, not because Dell's is especially good. The Surface stylus is excellent and will continue to improve (the panel technology should continue to be compatible with pens from at least the next Surface and probably beyond). If stylus experience is important, the Surface is an excellent choice.

i would definately go with a Surface pro 3 or 4 if you have the funds. they are great tablets. If you are into graphics design, then I would look at the new Vaio tablet. got some real good review.
