Fallout 4

I'd be disappointed if it didn't require a lot of storage space, being an open world game. Lots of areas to explore and missions to carry out are what I'm looking for. As long as they don't put in a lot of "fillers" like the subway tunnels in Fallout 3 that all looked the same and really didn't have much of a fear factor.

The thing about open world game is that they often reuse the same textures. Terrain, foliage, even dungeons as you mentioned. They did the same with Skyrim, where the dungeons all looked the same, textures, objects, etc, only in different configuration.

Maybe Bethesda will do things differently this time and create unique assets for each location, but I wouldn't keep my hopes up

Yep, email coupon. There is effectively always a 20% off one. Then I get emails for site wide discounts (25-32% off) pretty frequently as well. I don't know how they decide when to send them out, but it was a 30% off coupon that pushed me to order Fallout 4. I'd planned on waiting till it goes on sale, but I doubt I'll see any significantly bigger discounts than this one until way into next year.

technically cdkeys has it for 33% off without coupon, but I dunno - something creeps me out about the more grey markety sellers, like you'll probably get a key but you're rolling the dice.

GMG has never done me wrong, has live humans that provide support (example I've cancelled a pre-order several times) and I'd rather pay a dollar or two more for peace of mind.

In any case this is mother effing Fallout 4 - if there's one game this year worth the price (besides Witcher 3), it's probably this one.

UGh, I have been waiting for gmg to have a deal, I have been a long-time customer of theirs for years and this the main game I am waiting to buy from them , just waiting for a good 25% or higher coupon (or VIP) deal, and now this!

I almost never seem to get their "Targeted" emails unless it's for crappy Call of Duty games that I have 0 interest in :(, why do they have targetted emails in the first place instead of giving them to the people subscribed to the newsletters/long time customers.

Truth.

Even if it's "more of the same, with a different story", I know I'll get at least 60 hours out of it. And that's low balling it for me.

Me, too. No question I'll get more than my money's worth out of this easily.

I'm pretty curious how the settlement building & base crafting is going to fit into the overall game. Like will it just be a fun little diversion you try once and quickly forget about, or does it have the potential to become all-consuming. From the demo of it that Todd showed at E3 it looked pretty impressive, but still hard to tell how much depth there really was to it. I'm too old for the Minecraft wave/generation but I could see myself potentially spending some solid hours with F4's system, defending a base against raiders with motion sensing flamethrowers and other way more absurd stuff.

Is this only for base crafting?
I thought they were implementing a Map creator like Far Cry 4 did.
Maybe I was mistakened, but that would be awesome.

Was the commercial that just aired on TNF new? Hadn't seen it before. Definitely pumped for this.

i donno about base but the weapons crafting system omg i cant wait i want it NOW...

when this was first announced I was skeptical they would be able to stick to their November 10th release date...glad to be proven wrong...hopefully the engine is not a buggy mess

Nuka Cola (Quantum) was available for years from a producer in Holland, starting sometime around 2011. Seems the online shop is no longer available though. Perhaps legal caught up with them.

The last few months were spent "polishing" according to Howard so hopefully it's paid off. Regardless of how it plays out hopefully the next fallout game needs a modern engine.

I was watching the release trailer again recently and it looks to be following almost the same beats as Fallout 3 in terms of the locations and story...I hope they try and make it unique...the 'new' places remind me too much of Megaton and other places already visited...listening to some developer interviews they keep hyping the interactivity and downplaying the graphics and story

They had to do something with the 3000 bottle caps they got sent. Then any others they got sent after that...

I'm not as excited for Fallout 4 as I was Fallout 3 but I'm still going to play the hell out of it...hope they don't have those stupid confusing subway tunnels again

I hope the game has more content, I think I knocked out FO3 in like 20-30 hours and I easily have 300+ hours in Skyrim. I barely played NV at all, <20 hours.

FO3 was a great game but Skyrim had legs. Which is disappointing because the FO universe is far more entertaining.

WCCF is claiming FO4 will utilize some GameWorks features via an inside "source".
Not going to link the article.

I had go to back and read the whole thing, looks like another GTA V situation so hopefully the game will run fine. It's too bad AMD doesn't have more tech otherwise Bethesda could actually implement some of it and silence the pitchforks. CHS maybe, I didn't even know it existed prior to GTA V.

So... that's some good news. It's not a "GameWorks game" in the traditional sense.

That's what I'm hoping for. Just some vendor specific features that allow their cards to work well.

just going to leave this here

Don't quite get that, with the extensive mod support that Fallout 3/NV got (and is still getting) they both had plenty of "legs".

I probably played 300+ hours of fallout 3 with the dlc. I'm expecting no less with fallout 4. I'm so hyped for this game, it releases about the same time that I'm due for back surgery so I'll have plenty of play time right away
