Star Citizen - media blowout, Chris Robert's new game

I'm waiting for the inevitable SC branded accessories to come out before buying anything :)

I bought the Gemini upgrade just in case I decide I want that instead of the standard Starfarer. I also made the mistake of looking at how much I have spent :/

support must not be backed up at all from the Gemini sale, she is already back in my hangar. and I put the ticket in last night around 5pm eastern and i got the email from them at 6:14AM that it was taken care of.

Yeah i am still mulling over my options on what i want to unmelt, I am so undecided haha.

I am starting to lean to unmelting my phoenix upgrade next.

There is just a part of me that wants to own a connie and with its revamp again improving the interior and giving it the modular bridge section people have been wanting to swap say the aquila bridge onto the phoenix or other models part of me is wanting that ship back and it would be a good backup ship for when my 890 jump is destroyed and waiting on a replacement, and still retain that high end VIP classification in some capacity.

I was just going to turn my LTI gladius into the super hornet, but if i am going to unmelt my phoenix upgrade i would rather turn that gladius into the connie when that ccu is available in 2.0.

i might just turn my gladius in my omega package into a super hornet instead, not sure i really care about lti on a ship as small as the hornet.

Tho that brings up that i may also be interested in another super hornet or a gladiator upgrade, for my other omega package that is sitting as a delta, i may want to just upgrade those completely to super hornet and gladiator combo so if anyone has an extra one of those upgrades they do not want i may want to buy one soon. doesn't matter which one as i can swap between them to the one i want with the gladiator to super hornet free swap upgrades that i have.

Wait has it been confirmed that I can put the Aquila front end onto a Phoenix? Because that would be freaking amazing!

While it does not say we can change them out specifically it really hints at it being a feature of it getting a rework of the modularity of the connie.

they know we want to do it, so i can see them with this rework making it possible. it is likely something that would need to be done in game tho and not through the site.

They sort of hinted at it with the Conni modularity update, but current official word is no, unique hull.

EDIT: JINX!

If they do the modularity system right, changing out the bridge section should be no harder than changing out the ball turret for a cargo box on a hornet.

but i personally would rather have the aquila cockpit on my phoenix with its blast plates likely giving more protection to the bridge when deployed.

edit-

tho i would not be opposed to some serious down time on the ship to make the change, so it is not instant like the ball turret.

And then you realize what the ship will be in-game:

And then imagine what a convey of them will be:

Yeah I saw that, I'm glad they didn't make it exclusive to attending the events. I grabbed mine, hopefully they let us use them on some other ships. I'm still not sure what ships are planned to be able to use the original skins.

Look at what's on the desk, lower left of the picture, in front of the green container. See it? That's why he was removed as lead moderator and has since quit and found another job.

You implying that that is a bag of weed? Not clear enough, could be trail mix, plus medical is legal here in CA where the Santa Monica office is located. Plus those green containers you are referring to a Razer Kraken Headphones. I thought he was let go over improper moderation, there's been a rash of that going on for a while now on the RSI forum (even leaking over to reddit a couple of times).

I'm not implying anything. It is a bag of weed. Don't care about the headphones, I was just giving directions on where to look.

You were implying by not outright saying and that can be damaging to someones future career if someone were to say google him and find this and it were to impact their hiring decision. Not to mention by implying that people are taking illegal drugs into CIG offices you are hurting CIG's reputation and possibly the future development of the game. This isn't the place for these kinds of speculations, if you wanna speculate that CIG is wasting our money or that the game might not be working out, that is part of the discussion, but this is a personal attack (with no real evidence) on individual attack on former CIG employees that could hurt CIG as a whole (FYI, libel).

I honestly can't say it's weed or not, that said the "baggie" does seem to have the proper characteristics of a weed baggie lol... Just because something is legal doesn't make it ok but that's the companies call in the end.

I once saw some dude I drop a "baggie" of what I could have sworn was a bag of sticky looking hashish from about 20 feet away. I was a bit pissed off because the dude had been clean (at least at work) for a good 4 years. Plus I was like, why the fuck would you bring hash into work unless he just bought it off one of the other guys. I let it go since I wasn't in the mood to deal with it at the time. Later that day I walked by and saw him eating from his baggie. I walked up to him to see wtf he was doing as and it was a baggie of raisins lol... I laughed my ass off and asked him why he had it all rolled up like a baggie of drugs, he told me it was just natural instinct hahaha. So I'll err on the side of caution with this one lol...

Hypothetically speaking I don't see how this would be damaging to CIG, I would think the opposite would be true since this would mean CIG has a general no drug use in the workplace policy. I've seen drunk people and high people working aircraft, forklifts and other highly dangerous equipment. People are going to do what they want to do, the only say a company has in that instance is if they allow it.

As time goes on I don't know if I would consider this the wrong place for speculation, for good or for worse this is open development of the game after all, it's new ground imho. It seems natural to me for people to speculate why someone gets fired when they are one of the faces you see on a weekly basis. If CIG wants to allow things like the whole Wingman is still working here when he really wasn't debacle, or the fact something was obviously not working out in Austin, then they are going to get more stuff like this. They certainly have the right to not comment, but they are all very much in the public eye, it's similar to a reality tv show in a way.

Hahaha was that a libel threat? I spend my days working on people with bullet holes in their faces. It's gonna take a tiny bit more than that to get me to notice you ;)

It would be hilarious tbh if he had a bag of weed sitting on his work place desk while being interviewed for a segment. I find that pretty hard to believe but that picture does kind of look like it. The expression on his face does not help lol

Will's expressions weren't always the greatest. Looks like the reddit thread that this picture is from also mentions Will already has a new job.

OMG I'm going to have to unplug from the Star Citizenz here in a little over an hour. I got some monsters to hunt and potions to drink. I may need to be sick tomorrow as well :)

Lucky, I'm working and won't have access to a pc, so I won't be able to play until the 22nd of june, at the earliest.....I'm sad....

As sad as it is I haven't been able to play much, working on some car ignition troubles (car parts will be here today), things are work got pushed up and I've only put in 4 hours :( And I almost forgot my AC went out, but that got fixed this morning. My computer room was up to 85 once my computer started crunching away lol. I don't know why, but someone doesn't seem to want me to play yet haha.

It's ok though, the crossfire support is screwy and I can only get 24 fps on one card at ultra, so I decided to wait a week for the new amd drivers and patch.

hmmm, that ship is really weird :) I'll probably grab it at some point, it seems like a good candidate to CCU from an Omega in the future.

Ya that's kinda the way I look at it. After this last training event is over I go into red cycle and will have a bunch of down time. Plus I figure that in a month a lot off the Current issues will be resolved.

the sneak peak had a more final silhouette than the ship shape video i believe.

thought the pokemon reference was funny tho with mantine.

i am likely going to pick up 2 Reliants tomorrow, not sure what i want to do with them, may keep them for ccu's may just be credit place holders since i am getting the urge to unmelt my phoenix upgrade, can either use them as credit for that or save as ccu's for something.

Wow the Reliant is now available, seems pretty early in the day compared to usual.

Was not expecting it up for another 5 or 6 hours.

Future Variants

The standard model of the Reliant, currently nicknamed the Mini-Hauler, is designed to be a ‘jack of all trades’ ship with a slight focus on cargo transport. In truth, the base ship is more of a utility base which might be adapted to any number of purposes. Using the base Reliant, pilots can customize their ship for any number of roles, ranging from combat missions to electronic interception. Additionally, the development team is currently working on three future ship variants. Expect to see more on these ships when the base Reliant is hangar ready. Please note that these variants are very early concepts and that their specifications and purpose may change significantly as they go through the development process. Even their names are internal and not the ‘in-world’ designations they will launch with.

“Researcher” – A science-oriented model that carries internal signal dampeners and an advanced scanner suite for discovery missions.
“News Van” – Designed for deep space broadcasting, the ‘News Van’ Reliant adds an Image Enhancement Suite that helps capture every moment of lfe in the stars
“Skirmisher” – The frontier combat version of the Reliant trades cargo for a high-yield powerplant, stronger shields and additional weapons mounts.

We are announcing that these ships are in the works today because we know that many backers are concerned about having LTI on their ships. With feedback from the Starfarer Gemini sale, we’re going to establish ongoing rules for variants in advance. Going forward, the policy is that if we announce variants in advance (which we will try to do when possible) they will not be made available with LTI on release and instead CCUs will be available. If an additional variant were added beyond those listed during the base concept sale, it would be considered for a possible LTI concept sale.

I ended up just getting 3 for credit or maybe holding on too and ccu for later, was only going to get 2 but i wanted to spend $11 more any way to hit $2500 spent so i am a Grand Admiral now

The News Van one could offer a really interesting pov if they get their stream to the cloud and it converts it to an animated texture working, people could fly around in ships designed to capture video and it could be channels for people to sift through on their in game tv's.

i think chris mentioned looking into doing something like that for races or other things where people wanted to stream but have the stream show up in game as a viewable source.

a news van ship would be ideal for someone wanting to capture events while being small enough that people know they do not really pose a huge threat so they might just leave them alone to do their broadcasting.

In one corner your have the Herald for the Lawless News Network and in the other corner you have the Reliant for the UEE News broadcasting org skirmishes to the verse :D

I want to know what the Research variant missions entail, it sounds cool but not sure what it means lol.

I think it's a got a star wars feel to the design of it.

Apparently Discolando let a download link of a torrent slip through for a dev build of Star Citizen.

Depending on who got it we may get some leaks lol
