Star Citizen - media blowout, Chris Robert's new game

There was suppose to be a post yesterday about the FPS module delay, but it's been changed to Wednesday. Not that this will help those who can't help themselves ;)

So they're delaying announcements about delays now? (sorry, couldn't resist)

How does the Hull Series impact the Constellation Series? I see the Hull as a Cargo Hauler with some ability to customize it, while the Constellation is more of a Generalist Ship with some hauling ability.

this may be a a decent way to see how many concierge level backers they got finally haha. I would figure most of those who follow the game enough to be at concierge level are also paying enough attention to the community sites to see the vote.

Last time I looked it was around only around 2200, I would be amazed if it's over 5000.

i only saw it because of your quoting lorien lol.

have not been to the site much since GTA5 came out lol.

lol, I saw it on the reddit a little bit ago.

I don't really visit the official forums much either, I usually just jump into the concierge sub forum once a week or so. I just usually check reddit, seems like they got all the important stuff up-voted for the most part.

I can't wait till they actually put the F7A (or the F8 Lightening) up for sale now, last time I checked the Gemini was another of those ships that would only be attainable in game and possibly have civilian restricted technology...

I'm actually a bit bitter, I mean I have all the ships I want, but the fact that now all the military ships are being sold. The Retaliator was really the first part of this problem with everyone bitching about getting a civilian/decommissioned ship and now we are getting straight up fully armed Retaliators and Vanguards, even the original concepts for the Gladius showed a ship that had a seriously stripped out cockpit. I even fell in love with the original Gladiator which was sold as a decommissioned ship, I own the ship, I would not have mind scrapping for my torp bays at the start of the PU! And then selling the Hull E giving a huge leg up to large orgs. I'm waiting for a $1000 upgrade package for the Javelin to make it fully armed and operational.

I'd say that's essentially it. The Constellation is the Millenium Falcon. Hull's are cargo transport ships with some modularity.

I don't remember them ever saying the Gemini would not be sold, there has just been so little info put out about the starfarer in general.

I think some assumed it would never be for sale and then some were hopeful.

I personally always assumed it would show up eventually since it is a military transport ship rather than a full fledged combat ship.

Tho i am curious to see what all the difference is.

@RangerXML

To be honest I'm not sure they ever said the Gemini wasn't going to be sold, I always assumed it was going to happen at some point, but I easily could have missed it though.

I understand about being bitter about the other things though. I'm kind of indifferent at this point, I stopped taking their word as far as what won't be sold a long time ago though. The whole insurable scythe and Idris-m being the cause. So long as they allow an insurable version of the pledge ship in the game to buy with credits I don't really care what they allow to be sold for the pledge drive. That said if they sell the F8 or F7A I damn well better get the option to buy me a Scythe :)

They said it would be sold in Around the Verse, should go live at some point today.

Gemini to have LTI and cost $240 as stand alone ship.

Moar firepower!

Ship Design: The StarFarer got a much needed design white-box pass, and came off slightly more heavily armed, with two extra rear belly turrets on either side

It looks like they are going to do 3 Q&A comm-links on the Starfarer like the HULL every other day next week, which is cool, I hope they do that for all the ships at some point.

Damn it and can't get the last level for the other apex predator forum title for the mini game.... I think I'm just to tired and I'll have to try again when I'm not half dead lol

Its a surprisingly in depth little shooter! Are there multiple titles/badges available, or just the one? I've been able to complete the entire 3 levels on Normal and was granted the Predator badge. Did you say there is a separate Apex Predator badge/title? I'm guessing you have to beat all 3 levels on Hyperpink? Or do you have to not only beat all levels on Hyperpink, but "100%" each of them by getting all 3 badges (ie no hull damage, every enemy killed etc...)?

If the above is accurate, this would be the first time that a "content update minigame title" had multiple tiers, if I recall.

Yep, there is a second title "Apex Predator" it's from beating the game in Hyperpink, (it's also a pink badge lol) from what I read it seems like you may only need to finish the 3rd level on Hyperpink to get it, but that's also the hardest so if you can beat the 3rd you should be able to beat the others without a problem anyway :) I can't confirm that though, I've beat lvl 1 and 2 in hyperpink but I've only made it to about 85% through lvl 3. I'll have to wait till I get home from work tonight to try and beat it. The game saves locally so don't clear your cache or you'll have to start over.

Hellz yeah lol

I can't believe I spent so much time to get that stupid thing lol. Atleast there wasn't any RNG in this one. Now I can go sleep, I hope there isn't some other hidden thing in that game. I don't know if I can get a perfect run lol.

Here are the links to those games, make sure you're logged in.

The mining game is fairly easy, just remember to scan the area after every turn.

The Explorer one isn't very fun, it's got to much RNG and you can fail even though you choose the best path. There is a guide that gives you the best options to choose which will usually let you win the game the majority of the time.

Hellz yeahh, I did it perfect run lvl3 hyperpink.

BTW if anyone is wondering once you beat the game you can log out and into an alt account and replay and win the last level so you can get the titles. You don't have to start from scratch, I don't know if anyone else has extra alt accounts, but anyway I figured I would let you know.

Sweet I'm ranked #5 now :) I can stop playing finally.

Anyone getting the Gemini? I'm thinking about upgrading mine, but I can't tell if it's worth the 833 SCU loss. It may make sense to get a more armored variant if you're headed off into the unknown in case you stumble on the baddies, but otherwise I could go either way. I may need to wait till the end of the Q&A posts later this week.

it is a tough call, it seems light on the defense (shield wise) on the normal version, larger max power plant and larger max shields seems nice, but like you said the capacity decrease is steep, so the question is, will the larger shields be the difference in the ship as a whole making it to its destination or not, or is it going to get destroyed either way.

how much is that larger power plant and larger shield capacity really going to protect it ect.

no matter what you will likely need some form of escort, but if the larger shielding will keep stray shots from taking it out ect. then it is worth it but if it doesnt then you are better off with more capacity and just hope for the best.

i am inclined to say get the upgrade and just not apply it until you have 100% decided.

there is no harm in just sitting on the $45 upgrade until you are sure you want too apply it.

Another thing the heavier shields and armor might get you is the ability to safely use more marginal planets for fuel harvesting. They at least made it sound like you're going to have to endure some very rough flying for some harvesting missions. Seems to fit with their approach to mining, even "PvE" missions are not going to be safe and involve some player skill.

Question: Can I buy the upgrade to the Gemini now, but not use it on my Starfarer - LTI yet? I have this right now with my Constellation Phoenix. I have the upgrade sitting in my hangar but I haven't applied it yet because I am not 100% sure I want it or just the base version. So could I buy the Gemini upgrade and sit on it, and perhaps melt it down later for store credit or trade it or something?

If people are having performance issues on AC after the latest patch, the cause may likely be a memory leak. The file ObjectCutlass.pak is loaded constantly even if you are flying another ship. It happens in all maps and game modes including vanduul swarm.

Correct. Lots of people would buy Super Hornet upgrades and kept them to be resold later too.

After reviewing some threads I am looking at the x-55 RHINO as a midrange solution for SC. Anybody with personal experience care to comment? Any other suggestions? I don't want to spend much more than @200$ and I do want the throttle / joystick as separate units.

Does SC currently support all the doodads and thingamajigs (switches) on the RHINO?

Wooo finally, got the ball rolling.

Added $100 to my account so i can unmelt my LTI Gladius. and ccu it to a hornet, then all i need to do is spend another $30 at some point to upgrade it to a Tracker, and then apply my tracker to super hornet upgrade i got last sale.

its been a long 5 months waiting to get my super hornet back from the great melt to get the Idris back in December.

as a bonus it is a going to be an lti super hornet for $155 rather than 165 it normally costs since the lti gladius is only $80 that i have melted and the CCU steps are only $10 to upgrade it to a cutlass, and another 10 to the base hornet. so $100 to get the base hornet.

Currently $111 away from Grand Admiral ($2500) as well so that goal is getting closer.

I am still undecided what i want to do with my Gladius and Mustang delta in my Omega packages and what to settle on their CCU's paths

I may keep the gladius a gladius and turn the delta into an avenger variant, so i have a single seater with a little cargo capacity, as well as the gladius as a backup for when the Super hornet might be blown up and waiting on a replacement.

Ugh so I bought a Super Hornet CCU ugprade last sale, and haven't used it yet...because well I still haven't upgraded my Aurora to a Hornet.

Anyways, I mainly got it for being able to fly with a buddy and it was suppose to be really good. But now I am reading that the Hornet Ghost is a lot more fun...So I think I want to go to the Ghost, I just hate getting rid of the two seater for it.

Here are my top options(hoping for others):

1) Just stick with the Super Hornet, it will cost me $80 for the Aurora -> Hornet Upgrade.

2) Drop the Super Hornet and get Ghost. Upgrade Aurora -> Hornet for $80, then $15 for the Hornet -> Ghost. But I can melt the Super Hornet upgrade for $55. So total would be $40 to go this route.

And I don't really want to spend more then $80 more for my final decision...

What say the forum?

Super hornet is better in every way, you can get the low sig ghost stuff in the PU to turn your super hornet into a super ghost.

while having more flex in having that second seat or larger max power plant so when you do not need to go stealth you will have the power that the ghost lacks.

remember the F7C, Tracker, Ghost are all the same ship with different bolted on parts.

Super Hornet is a unique hull, unless they have changed their stance with modularity on small ships, you cant turn a ghost into a super hornet but you can turn a super hornet into a ghost by reducing the super hornet sig by using low sig equipment or buying the stealth armor in the pu.

Upgrade the Aurora to a Cutlass (gets you the asteroid hangar) then upgrade to a Hornet. You'll keep the hangar.

Ghost and stealth talk: I would skip the Ghost for now. Stealth is really useful on approach, less so in a dogfight. Every ship in the game can go 'stealth mode' during approach just by disabling the engines. So the Ghost's unique thing isn't really unique. Once you get into a fight stealth is irrelevant since your weapons fire, thruster use and shield regen blows your IR and EM values sky-high.

Oh, and since you can rent them all with REC now, do that first before spending any cash.

I can't be of a lot of help with an apples to apples comparison, but I was deciding myself on a HOTAS just a couple weeks ago, choices were between the X-55 and the X-52 Pro. I currently had the X-52 Pro but decided to give it to my son since he was starting to fly Elite Dangerous and SC with me a lot.

Anyways, after reading up on them both, I discovered there were a lot of issues with the X-55 that people were having issues with, build quality, super tight Throttle, etc. I ended up just picking up another new X-52 Pro since was already familiar with the layout, and of course I'm content with it.

Does anyone in this thread have any experience with the X-55 that they would like to share? I'd be interested in hearing the Pros & Cons of other folks who might have experience with both.

Ax

I've got an X52-Pro too, been happy with it so far. I avoided the x-55 due to the problem reports and higher price.

SC should support all the switches and stuff, you just may have to bind some of them yourself if the default mapping isn't to your liking.
