I'm surprised I haven't seen this posted yet. In addition to ditching GFWL, the Gold Edition previously only available on consoles has been added to the store. If you already own RE5, you can purchase the DLC separately.

The Gold Edition is $29.99 US, while the base version of the game is on sale for $6.80.
 
Nice I can convert my boxed copy CD key into a steamworks key. Now I just have to remember where I stashed to box.
 
The 5 year old DLC is $15; over 2x the price of the base game ATM.

And it's still not worth $15 for being delayed 5 years on the PC.

The 2 story DLC options are only like 45 mins-1 hour each (and some costumes for Mercs mode). And they want $15. The base game has many more hours in it, and normally goes for $20. It's only $6.79 ATM.

So, no matter how you slice it, the price is not worth the content. Either in in age or length of the content.

Any sucker paying full price for that DLC is just that - a sucker. But, a fool and his money.......

IMO it should be $5-$7.50 at most.
 
My first thought was "RE6 doesn't use GFWL does it?" and then I realized this was about #5. Crazy they're still supporting it. But that's a good thing, though.

Hopefully Street Fighter x Tekken (another Capcom game) and GTA4 will eventually drop GFWL. Those are the only two games I have left that still use it.
 
and i didnt even liked this game, i think im on a re rampage lately.. well, cool! good for me (i guess) :D
 
haha this game is sucking but it is also great, it is bad but is also good, so addictive, im playing it since sunday, i hate the fucking hud size! :D
 
I hope you're playing with a Steam friend, the AI partner is terrible.
 
who cares now? game was decent nothing more why bother release it now lol..

It works. I did it. Now my only issue is migrating my save (I hope GFWL had an online save!) and atleast the achievements. I can speedrun through the game with ease but I would love to do something else with that time like staring at jiggles in DOA5...

People can say what they want about the game, but it is a solid fucking game. The controls are tight, the balance is good, progression is fun, and it even looks decent. I think people just get their panties in a twist over this one because this is when RE went total action in a Gears of War-style. I will admit that I rolled my eyes at the cover system they punch you in the face with near the end of the game with everyone wielding guns.

My guess would be to reignite interest with the Steamworks patch. Capcom said early on that the PC version would not be getting the DLC, so this is probably their ace-in-the-hole, so to speak.

I tired mine and it didnt work but from the little bit of research I did it seems to be a common issue and they are working on fixing it. I guess ill just have to wait a few days and keep trying. Hopefully I can get it to work without too much hassle.
 
Maybe some other multiplatform games which never had the DLC released on the PC (eg. the extra island level in Burnout Paraside, the epilogue from Prince of Persia (2008), etc.) can finally come to the PC too. :eek:
 
Seems capcom fubarred the gwl key registration on steam. They are now requiring you submit a receipt along with an image of the cd key. My receipt is loooong gone for this game

Lame just lame.

EA looks better and better theses days (they gave me a no questions asks copy of mass effect 1 and the trilogy of Crysis when my crysis 1 wouldn't register on origin)

Wow this game came out in 2009 and they expect people who got boxed copies to still have a receipt? I'm pretty sure an hour after I got home from the store and had the game installed and made sure it was working I tossed the receipt. Looks like I wont be adding my copy to Steam.
