Hey guys, I'm looking to pick up a 290x soon and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with one card versus the other. They are essentially the same price, just wondering which one is the better deal overall.

I'd opt for the Sapphire. The Tri-X cooler is about the best and is also very quiet. The Powercolor is very good also but I would rather have the Sapphire as they're generally among the best built cards at least in my experience.

A friend of mine has the Sapphire Tri-X and he has been very pleased. Quiet, overclocks well, looks pretty good assuming you dig the color scheme.

I have the PCS+ 290 and was very pleasantly surprised. Build quality is up from what I've expected from Powercolor and it definitey outperforms my reference 290X!

I don't think you can go wrong with either, I would go for whatever is cheaper tbh.

This is actually my thought too. The PCS+ cards are supposed to be very nice. Powercolor seems to have stepped up their game in the last couple of generations, which is great.

Both the PCS+ and Trix have very good aftermarket coolers. The PCS+ scores better in terms of temps in benchmarks, but this is primarily due to the fan curve on it at stock (very aggressive). Outside of the Vapor X and Ligtning coolers, the PCS and Trix are the best 290(x) coolers.

Id spend the little extra and go vapor-X.

Same Tri-X cooler with an added vapor chamber, heat strip, and some cool lighting, and an ostensibly better binned chip.

If you really want to step it up, go for the 8GB version.

Also blue, not that garish orange.

Love mine to death.

Tri-x cooler is nice but the warranty doesn't allow you to remove the cooler for any reason. I regret getting my tri-x. After a year of having it I have notice the card having to work harder to stay cool. I would really like to replace the TIM on it but can't due to the horrible warranty. I would suggest going with a XFX. Their support and warranty are both great.

Wow, thank you so much for that information, there is no way on earth I'm getting the sapphire card.
