Gainward GTX780 PHANTOM 3GB Advice

The 780ti is slightly more powerful, but uses way more power to achieve this. The 780ti has 3gb of vram vs the 970's 4gb. I think they are priced correctly, as the 970 is slightly less expensive.

Either way I think you will be happy.

the phantom gtx 970 is probably the better deal. the phantom 780 ti boost clock is 1046mhz. the phantom gtx 970 boost clock is 1304mhz. if anything, its the 970 that's slightly more powerful.

if every review had a 1300mhz ti (which is a really rare overclock for a ti; most struggle to hit 1200mhz) then that would make sense. a 1500mhz clock for a gtx 970 is excellent but not rare. the inherent energy efficiency of maxwell makes it a perfect chip for a passively cooled product line like the phantom.

Were it me, I would go for the 970 over the 780 Ti. The 970 is cooler, more efficient, has more VRAM and they seem to overclock very well.

Most every 780ti I saw hit 1200mhz. It will still edge out a 970.

you must keep some heady company because around here, most ti owners (myself included, albeit with reference coolers) only managed to achieve about a sustained 1150mhz in-game boost clock.
