The good news: BlackBerry will give you $550 for your iPhone. The bad news: You have to buy a BlackBerry phone with the money. ;)

Tired of your iPhone? Sentimental for BlackBerry's gold old days? BlackBerry, in its latest aggressive attempt to turn itself around and regain share in the smartphone market, is now offering up to $550 for people to trade in their iPhones.

I'm no fan of the iPhone but this is hardly a good trade.

Not bad news for some people. From what I've heard the Passport is an amazing phone and I can definitely imagine some people wanting it, and not an iPhone.

If they ever come down to $200-$300 unlocked I'd get one. At least they are something different. All phones pretty much look alike these days.

Actually not a bad way for them to try to push their product more. I'm guessing the iphones then go to their employees. :D

Seriously I'd love to see the company make a come back, just not sure how. I just hate to see yet another Canadian company fade away, which is what is probably eventually going to happen. Really they should ditch their OS and make android phones, at least then you know you can access android apps and such. The thing that probably keeps most people from blackberry is the much smaller app market. Their phones are actually pretty decent.

Z30 unlocked direct from BB store is 225 USD. Great deal and a fantastic phone for someone business and email oriented.

"Business and emailed" oriented people have moved on to driod and iPhone.

When you have used both get back to me. I went iphone and went back. UI isn't intuitive and screen was to small (6 might fix that, but then it bends...). It also lacks features for email and general integration I consider required. Android. Don't even get me started. If I can't make it through a full day then the phone sits on a shelf. Which it is has been doing for almost 6 months now.

LOL LOOK HE HAS A BB CURVE. No. Go try BB10 for a week and then say it's slow, a dinosaur, dead or whatever else you want. Quote me in several years time, BB is far from dead and their success in the future will be a huge shock to the people that paid no attention. Handsets are only a small part of their future business. If you were paying attention you would have picked up a bunch of stock at 6.50 ;)

might be a good deal if you go buy an iphone for cheap from someone. (around $100)

Quoted for emphasis. I actually, from the small amount of research I've paid attention to about them these past years, think you're more likely right than not. And I agree for real work an iPhone is a poor choice, and an android often worse.

I feel bad for the two people that are going to do this.

I feel really badly for the millions of people who will still be stuck on their iClones. Windows mobile did it better long before, and Android surpassed that soon after the iClones gained popularity.

Today the BB does nothing better than iOS. Not sure why anyone would take this trade other than ignorance and being unwilling to learn something new. I have a feeling that you're only going to get the big $550 for an iPhone 6 Plus, which you could sell for more on eBay anyway.

So basically a swap for the latest and greatest BB from an iPhone which either some money due or not depending on the trade in value one gets for their iPhone. Can't really seeing too many people doing this.

BB will definitely carve out a small but loyal market segment, just from their continual use of the mechanical keyboard and people who don't want to go away from it.
