Star Citizen - media blowout, Chris Robert's new game

I melted my M50 and 325a (which I had just to seal guns from for AC) to prepare for the 890 sale. Hoping they don't sell out too fast, hard to tell if the price will keep people away or not.

yeah it is hard to gauge because it is not a military ship so paying $600 for something that is likely not going to hopefully help you win a fight might detract a lot of people, where the idris was originally sold as a military class corvette in lower numbers but higher price.

depending on the stats we could see slow sales similar to the phoenix, but the phoenix was easier for people to swallow being $125 more than they already paid.

so who knows really, i am hoping to get one in the first wave so i do not have to worry as each wave happens lol.

so i just heard back from support, they will let me restore my 350r package next week when i have the store credit just need to put in a support ticket, maybe i should do the same with the khartu lol..

yeah i am likely going too, i still need to put more money into the game any way to get the hangar to where i want it, so i might as well get my lti khartu back so i can fly around with it in AC until i need to CCU an andromeda out of it,

which would leave me with my lti gladius for a possible CCU into some other larger ship like a tali later if i choose.

Standard Cutlass is darker now, wonder if it has anything to due with the hospital ship's mention of an ambulance cutlass version which would likely be white/red. although it could just be because it is PBR now.

I bet the medical one is the Search and Rescue variant mentioned in the lore blurb on the ship stats page.
 
Can't really tell, but it looks like the search and rescue/medical (red one) has a radar instead of a turret.

Try and catch the ambulance model with the claw on the reclaimer... just to hear the screams over local coms.

other than the cockpit on the bounty and interior trimmings nothing on those cutlass variants appears to really stand out as major hull changes.

Half the size of an Idris, I'm loving the runabout too (perhaps a nod to ST: DS9). Sadly I already have an Idris and a Constellation w/Phoenix upgrade so I'll have to pass.
 
Yeah it's suppose to go on sale shortly after 7pm Pacific.

I'm going to wait for the second wave, I want to see how the ships sells on the first one.
 
all i know is i want one. i think the first wave is supposed to go out at 10pm Eastern or shortly after mid live stream.

The Hangar deck in the PDF shows room for 2x of the fighters that it comes with, nose to tail set up which means it can likely fit 2x M50's in the hangar. or maybe 1x 300i/350r.

not sure if i would want to wait, i would rather just get it in my "website" hangar asap and i can always choose to melt it later if some other ship comes up that interests me more.

honestly thought it was going to be a little larger than it is but i am ok with that because of how it looks lol, and it seems decently armed "defensively"

but then again i am paying for most of it with store credit also, $411 of it heh.

The 890 kinda confirms tho how dangerous the Phoenix likely is in combat, it is about 1/3rd the size/mass yet has a larger max power plant better power to weight ratio, 2 class 5's and they both have a class 9 point defense, the Phoenix packs a lot in its smaller size.

Which is the reason i still want to keep the Phoenix.

...I think I'm in. I've been waiting for this thing every since I first spied the tiny writing on the back of the first edition Origin 300 series brochure mentioning the 890 Jump!

This seems like second only to the Idris, and unless they release multiple-thousands of these, I see them moving along swiftly. Those who were there during the Idris-P sales events (the M actually took longer, as it was in the very first wave and the concept was as of yet unproven etc...), remember how a ship that went for $1250 basically sold out in minutes, in a couple issues of 50/100 etc. Not to mention absolutely crashing the website.

Its clear that the 890 Jump is part of the same "Ultra Rare/Numerically Limited" sales dynamic. Even when the Phoenix had a maximum of 5000, that was the overall max and was combined with a time-limit of several days - and it didn't sell out immediately, either. These, I anticipate to be a much smaller lot and total maximum, simply because there are scheduled lot releases, as was done with the Idris. I think its likely that the livestream may end up crashing along with the sale-site, considering that has happened every single time something like this has been attempted in the past! Then again, perhaps the network team is preparing for the onslaught and will avoid history repeating!

Should be interesting... I'll bite now and then see how things progress in the future if I end up keeping it or if an Idris becomes available and changes the game...

Oh, with this in mind, I wonder if the sales of these sort of crafts (I'm still a little bit concerned about the expense - I really hope that the remainder of the announced Concept sales and Concept Second Edition when it arrives are all for ships MUCH less expensive. They've put two really high value items out there thus far and I explained in the past the negative possible impression this makes on players who aren't adverse to buying something, but don't/can't spend anywhere near this much). will mean for Concierge. There are going to be a lot of new $1000-tier breaking members, who secure an 890 after all.
 
Oh look! Pasty white red shirt wearing doofus lifting his arms every time the camera shows him on screen. I'd happily stab him in the neck with a 2ml syringe of haldol.
 
just noticed 2 of the class 4, have missile launchers stock since they are class 4, likely able to swap them for class 4 laser turrets also.

Honestly I think the first wave may sell out, but I don't think they are going to sell all 3500. 600 just seems like a lot for a very limited use ship for most people to buy it up like candy. That's just my gut feeling though, time will tell. :) anyhow I'm going to be working until 7am Eastern anyway so I'll be ready for the next few time slots.
