LG 29UM65 29" Ultra Wide Monitor - $330

Oh man. It looks so beautiful. Alas: the lag. I don't game that much anymore, but I do game some, and this guy just isn't going to cut it.

Hard to recommend this over a 27" qnix/x-star after seeing one in all of its glory.

Still a great price on a monitor that's just a tad too short.

Paid $375.64 for mine through NCIX on 5/27/14. Then saw the 42" at MC for $300 and kicked myself in the balls. Great picture quality, nice rich colors, no dead pixels and no light bleed. Couldn't ask for a better picture. Just a hurt to the pocket book. Used Bill Me Later though so it doesn't feel that bad. What I don't get is why it's priced $499.99 on Newegg's actual site. Usually their ebay store reflects the same prices on the actual site.

That price they have it at though is insane and I doubt they sell any at that price.

It has very low input lag. Only the first 29" LG released had high input lag (2 frames until they updated it a few months later) while the rest have been delay free.

Good deal for someone who wants an ultra wide screen monitor and has subpar eyesight. But I'd rather have a 27" 1440p monitor for roughly this amount of $. Vertical space is also important for me.

Seen LG model 21:9 on eggs she'll shocker for under $300, not sure if it was pis or not, but prices will be dropping throughout the rest of the year.....(duh).

I wish they had it listed on Newegg's site for that price. Best Buy is willing to price match what it's currently listed at, so at least I'll get twenty bucks back.

Yeah, I just can't bring myself to buy a monitor from eBay.

LG also has a 25'' 21:9 model that usually runs at $300. But that's just wayyy too narrow.

In still trying to process that comment

As in there is nothing wrong with the picture quality. This monitor is not trying to compete with a 4k whatever - some are comparing apples and oranges here.

Oh I understood and agreed with your reply, not his.

There is an 88% rated seller on Amazon that has this monitor for $349 shipped (listed as new).

I suspect Newegg is using ebay to avoid letting people price match them but in both cases, I can't help but feel really suspicious like I could get a refurb or an opened unit that someone found had dead pixels.

Well I'll be getting mine in a few hours. Wish me luck :D

did you snag that one on Amazon?

I'm thinking about one of these to ride above my VG248QE screens...

No, I bought from OP's ebay link.
EDIT: I also have a VG248. What a coincidence. Which stand are you planning on using?

I put a thread up about it here: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1823281

It's a Chief KTP325.

I have an additional pole clamp that I'm going to use to attach an 3rd pole to the stand behind the center screen - this pole will go up and I'll add a pole clamping VESA mount so I'll be able to center the new screen above the array and have a little tilt if I need it.

Looks like my comment struck a chord with you. If you wear glasses, then you should be OK despite your subpar eyesight. ;)

Nah, no chord struck. Just debunking retarded comments. There is nothing wrong with this monitor and I don't wear glasses. Nor do I have subpar eyesight.

Maybe he means continuous use of this monitor decreases the quality of our vision. Shit, I should find a new monitor, I'm already a month in

I was just going by the facts. One monitor is 27" that has 2560 x 1440 resolution. That may be harder for people with subpar vision to see compared to a monitor (in this deal) that's 29" with 2560 x 1080 resolution.

A lot going on here.

This is a great monitor. If you are coming from a 24" 1080p monitor than you will love the extra horizontal space. DPI will also be the same.

If you have a 1440p monitor than this shouldn't be a consideration. You should be looking at the 34" LG/Dell/AoC which is the same DPI as a 27" 1440p.

So yeah, you really are comparing apple to oranges. If you have a 27" 1440p, than of course you are not going to like this.

And it is easy to recommend this over the 1440p imports to people who are uncomfortable importing grade A- panels from Korea. (I like to take risk, so of course I have one ;)) ) Personally, If you were ok with importing (or ok with paying extra from the people that have already imported), than yes, I would say get the 1440p. But that's not everyone cup of tea.

But there have been plenty of mainstream 1440p brands that have dropped down to the same price range as the monitor in this deal. Namely, this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009626

Not right now, but it has been at the same price range plenty of times. Others are maybe only a bit more. Also the whole panel grade thing is crap as a metric. I went through several mainstream brands that cost 600-770$+ back when 1440p cost that much (including the Viewsonic VP2770). Some kind of issue with all of them... My Qnix cost me 320 and it came with one dead SUBpixel (just the color red on one pixel) and a tiny bend line or something on the film (very hard to notice, just some off-coloration on straight BGs). All it took to fix backlight bleed almost entirely was inserting a bit of cardboard here and there. Perhaps my luck is just bad, but 1440p is a panel lottery no matter who you go with. That includes Qnix (as opposed to being limited to Qnix). If you want some future insurance, just get Squaretrade.

Personally I don't understand this monitor at all. This aspect ratio is wonky and somewhat iffy in terms of support (for instance, Ubisoft iirc doesn't even support anything outside of 16:9). I'm not sure why you'd get this thing... but that's beside my main point.
