Hey guys,

Looking for some input here. Building budget concious gaming rig. Grabbed an ASUS MAXIMUS Vl HERO MOBO cheap and was looking at ----------->>

for my CPU. Spent a lot of time reviewing the i5 series, and everyone seemed to think this Haswell is the best bang for the buck. I understand the i7 - 4770K is the " GO TO " . It's just outta my budget at this time, as I have everything else ready except cpu.

BTW ... Will be playing BF4 and Titanfall running 8G Corsair Vengeance 9-9-9-24 and Sapphire R9 270 Vapour X . All comments welcome, and ty .

:D

Can't really argue with it unless you want to wait and see what happens with the Devil's Canyon chips in the next few days.

I would grab an i5-4690 instead. It's the Haswell-refresh version of the same chip and is currently cheaper than the i5-4670K. Unless you're going to be overclocking, I would save some money to get the non-K version of the processor. The only difference between the K and non-K versions is that the K version has an unlocked multiplier. Well actually, the K version also has some on-chip security features disabled when compared to the non-K version.

honestly if he wanted to save money he couldve gotten a b85

4690 without K is pointless

The op purchased what essentially is an overclocking mobo so i think just spend the few extra bucks on a K chip. also this is in the wrong forum subsection and will probably get moved.

I just picked up a i5 3570K for $140. And I am not going to use it anymore. Will let it go for the same price if u want it.

i5 4670K is the same thing really. just, a tad bit fast. You wouldn't notice it in real world performance.

This Is unlocked, and will run at 4.8GHz. Then it is smoking fast.

I know most people who are running a 3570K or a 3770K wouldn't even think about upgrading. yet.

I have two builds as it is.. a i7 3820 and a 4820K.

3570K is still one of my all time favorite chips! And this one is stable all day at 4.8Ghz
