Hello,
Let's get to the point. I just purchased a SE3016 and I am trying to get Windows 7 (64 bit) to register my new 4TB drives. It sees them as 2047GB. All drives (an assortment of different sizes and types) are running from the SE3016 through the M1015 (it is in IT mode) to the PC.

When booting the computer, the M1015 seems to list all my 4TBs as 2047GB. I say ALL, because I have an older Seagate 4TB that seems to register with Windows 7 fine but not the controller. Nothing special was done to have this one working. I have tried formatting, adding as GPT, converting to Dynamic, etc. Everything I do doesn't seem to work.

From what I read, the M1015 should be able to use 4TB. Anyone out there with experience or some tips to try? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks for your post. Should it work no problem? I would rather not risk flashing the BIOS but I can't seem to think of any other cause for this hiccup. Did the M1015 have an old IT firmware that didn't allow >2.2TB?

To further explain.. This is what shows up when a single 4TB drive is connected.

Seems to be a pretty popular flash since they are both based on same lsi chip. I never had a m1015, so I can't help you much more. I have a regular lsi 9211.

If it's a M1015 then crossflash it P16 or P17. Don't hold me responsible if you break anything but I've crossflashed a dozen M1015 without any issue.

how about you get a brake out cable sff-8087 to sata and hook up a few drives direct to M1015 if they register correct it's not the BIOS

That bios screen is NOT for a M1015....

Says at the bottom

LSILogic SAS1068E-IT <<<<<<<<<<<<

1068 based chips are for older gen LSI cards....M1015 is a "2008" Chip based card

So either you got a wrong card there....or somehow someone has (not sure how) put 1068 firmware on the card.

got a pic of the card in question?

He actually got help from the freenas forum turns out he as a IBM ServeRAID BR10i LSI SAS3082E-R and not an M1015.

This is correct. Unfortunately have received a BR10i. Thanks all for the help and sorry for the trouble.
