Wolfenstein CE preorder: With no game.

I always like it when publishers go the extra mile and provide goodies. That kind of stuff is nifty to me.

Not including the game itself with the said goodies that you're charging $100 for? That is not nifty.

Well the real problem is that calling it a "Collector's Edition" there will inevitably be people who don't read the fine print and buy this thinking it comes with the game. That is a pretty shady business practice IMO. If you are not including the game there should be a red/yellow sticker right on the picture that says "GAME NOT INCLUDED".

WTF Bethesda? You are selling a game package that doesn't include the game.

This company continues to lose my respect, and hence.....my money.

I've bought a few collectors editions in the past and all (except UT 2004, which was CHEAPER THAN THE NORMAL VERSION AND CAME WITH A HEADSET) have been very disappointing. I no longer buy them unless they're less money than the standard version.

$100 just for the stupid junk that comes with a collector's edition is just low.

If it doesn't come with the game, then it's not Collector's Edition simply because it's not any edition of the game at all.

This is simply merchandise, they can't call it CE, it's misleading.

If it wasn't for single-player ES and Fallout games, Bethesda wouldn't be doing so well. This "CE" is a joke...

They could have marketed the product better.
There have been plenty of other fan items sold in the past with much less drama.
The author of the article seems to think he is Entitled to this package With the game at a lower price.
Then calls it crap without reviewing the product itself, which is probably impossible at this time.
...whatever...

I am more bothered they are wording and marketing it like a typical collectors or special edition of the game rather then a swag box.

They literally call it "WOLFENSTEIN: THE NEW ORDER PANZERHUND EDITION". When I read that I assume the game comes with it.

They ask for $100 like it's chump change.

Clearly this is marketing targeted at fools.

So far Titanfall is the first game where the extra stuff worth more than the over blown cost of most CE edt. I would have bought the statue that came with Titanfall by it's self but the stuff with wolf, no way. The Titanfall statue is just short of 2 feet tall and comes with two extra guys, and is better quality then the Forge stuff by Games Workshop.

Most publishers have two or three big-hitter IPs and seas of others that merely do okay, so Bethesda's situation isn't all that unusual.

Wolfenstein's been a fairly costly game to develop (especially when you consider the overall cost of having bought the entirety of id for the engine technology), so it's understandable they're desperate to start getting an inflow of cash for it. The shady weirdness of CEs that don't include a game really is beneath them, though.

I've always wanted Bethesda to be that publisher you could feel good about buying from, but they've decided they're not going to be that sort.

More like a fraud. I think that's illegal and someone should by this garbage just to sue them Bethesda motherfuckers.

Aside from all the above, there's 3 cloth patches in there and not one of them is the iconic "W" logo synonymous with the Wolfenstein brand...wut...

I don't think there is anything wrong with a Collector's Edition not including a game. If you are dumb enough to not see what all is included then you deserve to lose your money.

The term Edition implies that it's a different edition of the game.

They should have called it Collectors Merchandise or something, because that's what it really is. It's not a different edition of the game, it's simply additional merchandise.

or "Software Development Kit"

like the actual words used matter, right :D
