Smokin' Deal - Sans Digital 24 bay enclosure WITH ARC1882!!! ($813)

Damn.. that seems almost to good to be true considering the ARC-882 by itself goes for like $700?

Maybe its some sort of rebranded 1882? Amazon has a picture of an ARC-1882 but on the actual site it is:

Same as the pain picture that showed the controller in front of it. This makes me wonder if its really got an ARC-1882 or not. That card looks similar but appears to have less stuff on the PCB and no fan.

EDIT: It lists web based GUI and BIOS for controller interface... I don't know of any other controllers other than areca that have a web-based GUI. Maybe it is an ARC-1882 (or 1880) but a cut-down/rebranded one specially for sans digital. Definitely curious on what you get but even for the chassis alone with cables and everything that seems like a decent deal. If it is an Areca ARC1880x or 1882x (but re-branded) I still think $800 is a steal. Hell... any 24 port case with a built in SAS expander would usually run atleast $1000 so that isnt bad.

It is a great price, almost 2 grand off list. It is not an 18xx series card, there is no Ethernet port and according to the specs supports 1,5,6,10 & 50. No R3 or 60 support. I might grab one just for the chassis, but it is not a standard redundant PSU (though you can order a replacement one that is.) From the cards SANS usually includes, my guess is it is a Highpoint RocketRAID 4522. The HBA picture included on the Amazon page (which looks exactly like an areca) is not the one that is pictured on the SANS Digital page.

update - yep it is.

Hi All - I _think_ it might be the ARC 1882 - as the one in the close-up picture has the FAN that the 1882 has. Also - on the website - it gives you the option for the EliteStor 24 to have only 1 of 2 ARC cards.

Either way - I'll let you know when mine arrives.... :)

No doubt about it... On the amazon site it shows a picture of the ARC-1882. I just am saying I don't know how much I trust amazon to have accurate images. One of the images shows the rocket raid the other shows areca... Interestingly enough they have both on their webiste (one with rocket raid, one with areca):

And yes I really like how these both have the exact same model as what is listed on amazon... So probably going to be one of those.

Hi All - received this unit on Friday, and did some unpacking (I took pictures and will post later). It came with the RocketRaid 4522 card. I read some reviews, and I am a bit concerned about this card - however - it is their top of the line card.

I'll get the review up here in a couple weeks...
