I wonder if you could get in trouble for downloading this DVD after the artist himself gave you permission (and the link) to download it free? ;)

The first was a shortened URL that sent fans to infamous torrent site The Pirate Bay, where they could download the show for free. The second link sent fans to the online BBC Shop and the third to Amazon.co.uk, both of which are selling the DVD for around £10. The Pirate Bay link posted by Brand was particularly interesting as it was a proxy URL, which effectively circumvents any blocks on the site that a user's ISP may have put in place.

If it goes on to sell well - And it probably will, I'm not a fan of his either but enough people must like him that he can make a career out of his act - I wonder what the 'piracy is killing the entertainment industry' brigade will have to say about it.

That statement has been debunked many times already.

They do not care if piracy has little to no effect on sales.
 
Maybe he did it because inside he feels that he's ripping people off by charging them money to listen to his brand of "comedy"
 
Good gesture. Not my type of comedy, but some people think he's funny. I think it's good that he's doing it this way, but I'll still skip it. Geez, the guy can't even give his shit away...

Doesn't stop them from keep trying to push that statement. So, even if it's debunked, they keep pushing and pushing. Maybe if they keep telling people that, it will come true. That might be their intention?

I guess I'm in the minority that doesn't mind him. He's no Duddley Moore, but he was decent enough in Arthur. I thought he was pretty funny in Rock of Ages also, but again I'm the only one I know who actually liked that movie.
 
Well I guess I'm one of the few [H]'ers that find him funny. I thought Get Him to the Greek was hilarious and he was funny in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Also, I've read several very well written articles by him I've seen floating around lately. I'll probably check this out and buy it if I enjoy it.

Watch again; the blonde, with the ring, was observably hot and bothered for him throughout the interview. He was keenly aware of this and toyed with her; it was high comedy.
 
Russel Brand is great in live interviews and stuff like that. He's really quick witted. Anyone see where he was on Morning Joe? Hilarious.
 
Is he self-publishing? If so, then one might rightfully mount a defense saying the publisher authorized the distribution method. If he isn't the publisher, then you're going to have to fight the MPAA and lose.

I watched the exchange when it first aired months ago and actually had appreciation for his criticism of common interview traits in American media, but apart from that he's a talentless, gormless cretin.

Judging by your completely unprovoked personal attack, you appear to have a lot in common with him.

Beat me too it.

I don't see him as a comedian. He is clearly exceptionally clever and VERY quick witted and can be quite insightful. This does as mentioned make him superb at interviews, and he can combine the lot to great comedic affect.

I couldn't stand her (still can't stand her music), but she's hot. And a nice person, apparently.

I've heard Russell Brand go on some rants, and although some sound pretty good and thought out, he gets on that soapbox a bit and goes overboard (like the [H] soapbox). It's was a black/white thing. Either right or wrong, no middle ground. Only Sith deal in absolutes....

I just don't find him funny. I like his acting in movies, but with stand up? Not really.

Must be the case, because the stories about his scripted TV show Brand X, are just sad.
 
He probably has some sort of clause in his contract that he can do this. Think about it, it plays into his rebel attitude, makes him look very cool ( PR ) and maybe the piracy numbers are something they had factored in anyways. Take a negative and turn that momentum and use it to their own advantage. Things are never black and white.

Insecurities from having grown up in a trailer park home and maybe she thought British accents were sophisticated or arousing? That's the best I can come up with.... That or other men were shy to approach her due to celebrity status and came across as wanting one-thing.

I've heard nothing about good things about her as far as personality goes. I'm not so sure she's not sans photoshop and makeup done by professionals though. Ever seen the picture Russell Brand tweeted of her?

And? Pick the most beautiful woman you can think of, and take an inpromptu picture of her with a cell phone when she's apparently just woken up in the middle of the night. Won't look much better.
 
I find overlap in his perspectives and ideals, and am not surprised by how others are able to understand him, and his response to this repeated process.

There's some women whom I've known that would look beautiful because they have a natural beauty that's not dependent upon cosmetics or high-maintenance.

The answer to your 'And?' would likely be that Katie Perry is a nice looking woman for sure but the music industry highly crafts her image to be a sexual goddess when she's really just above average.

I'd gladly sleep with her due to her seemingly great personality and my personal preference is always a low-maintenance, fun, happy upbeat positive woman over extreme beauty minus those personality characteristics. Even if she looked average or below average, I'd still be interested because her personality seems right. She seems like she'd make a great girlfriend or wife so I'm with others as to confusion why Russel Brandt would ever dump her even if she's not as beautiful as the media makes her out to be.

I don't think though she's "so amazingly hot" that anyone should just jump at the chance to jump into bed with her for casual sex. I think she's much closer to above average as photos of her outside photo studios sessions have shown.
