Microsoft is spicing up a new special version of Internet Explorer 11 with an Anime persona named Inori Aizawa as part of a promotion of Anime Festival Asia 2013. Well, she’s no Clippy, but then nothing could replace that lovable little fellow. :D

As part of the promotion, Microsoft will be releasing a special version of Internet Explorer that’s themed after Aizawa. It will be available at internetexplorertan.com, but the URL currently redirects to the Facebook page for now.

This may increase IE's share of basement dwellers by 11%.

Aw, she's got a cat! ^^

This is why I like Microsoft so much. Between the herding cats background for OWA, the office assistant kitty Links, and now a browser kitty they really do have a lot more cats than dogs. That's great for the smarter half of the population that prefers animals that meow.

So this is her back story lol:
"Hey everyone! My name is Inori and you can think of me as a personification of Internet Explorer.

When I was younger, I used to be a clumsy, slow and awkward girl.

However, just like the story of ugly duckling, people told me that I have really matured and changed over the years. I feel confident in my abilities now, and I’m eager to show you what I can do."

I'm not getting it

Why is Microsoft making a commercial for the Firefox download tool?

I'm sorry, but the smarter part of the population doesn't necessarily prefer felines. That's just a bad blanket generalization...

I like the idea of personification of devices and products. I gave my gun a name and pretend personality, why not my browser, heh. Works for geico with their gecko for ages now.

Of course considering the style they chose, I am surprised that she wasn't attacked by some form of tentacles... What kind of anime is this?!?!

Nope. It's eleventy million percent true that all dog owners are less intelligent than people who are enslaved by their kyooote little kitty!

Microsoft have used anime girl advertisements as far back as W7 as far as I recall.

Is it just me, and it being early....or does it look like there's porn on the monitor in this image?

[Warning: Otaku geekiness ahead. And, pictures in my link below may be NSFW because of the images for Hikaru Aizawa.]

As I mentioned in another thread, there are other "software-tans" made by Microsoft.

Inori Aizawa is the newest member of this "family" joining the following:

Nanami Madobe

Hikaru Aizawa

Claudia Madobe

  • クラウド (Kuradou = Cloud), so technically "cloud"-ia, or クラウディア (Kuraudia)
  • Created for Microsoft Windows Azure cloud services by Microsoft Japan.
  • First cousin of Nanami Madobe.
  • Microsoft Azure PV: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tQNjAw7PjU
Yuu and Ai Madobe

  • Yuu and Ai together form "yuuai", the Japanese word for "friendship". It is also a play on the acronym "UI", or user interface. (Ironically, Windows 8 is criticized for having an unfriendly UI...)
  • Created to promote Microsoft Windows 8 and later 8.1.
  • Promotional items at Windows 8 launch: Two different editions of Windows 8 for each of the girls, a multi-touch pad mouse, and Yuu and Ai Madobe specific Windows themes.
    • Windows 8 Promotion - 1. 2.
    • Windows 8.1 Promotion - 1. 2.
  • Yuu (older sister; short hair with pigtails) and Ai (younger sister, long hair with side ponytail) are second cousins to Nanami Madobe.
  • Seiyuus: Tamura Nao (Ai Madobe) and Nishi Asuka (Yuu Madobe)

Mutsumi Madobe

  • Unsure if this is official for Windows Vista.
  • Considered the sister of Nanami Madobe (Windows 7).

(I apologize for the odd filenames. A lot of these were downloaded from image boards, Facebook pages, Wallbase.cc, and official websites.)

Well you have to admit,no one would want to be hit with that many Blue Screens of Death all at the same time. Those droids never stood a chance! :p

As an avid consumer of anime and manga this kind of marketing honestly makes me feel uncomfortable.
