PS4 - BF4 or COD:G

I have a PS4 pre-ordered and I am thinking about picking up BF4 over COD:G. I have played both series and like both but infinity Ward has been really lacking in the last few releases which is why I am leaning more toward the BF4 game. What are your thoughts about both of these games on the PS4?
 
if you enjoy both, then get both?

I know it's 'hip' to hate on COD, but I honestly enjoy it quite a bit. With that said, I really have no intention of buying ghosts. From now on, I think I'm sticking with Treyarch releases if for nothing more than Zombies.

I will be buying BF4 though

edit: and if BF4 for PS4 is anything like BF3 was for PS3, I'd skip it and get it for PC. It ran like garbage. Even with AA disabled, you'd be lucky to get 30FPS
 
I've played all the CoD games. I played BF3 for maybe one day. Sadly I had the 4GB XBOX model and couldn't load the content disk from BF3 so I gave up on it but I can say there is no way I would consider Ghost over BF4. Both are FPS games but that is where the line is drawn in the sand. BF4 looks absolutely incredible. The environment, maps, guns, and audio are years ahead of anything else I've seen CoD achieve. Not taking anything away from CoD...it's obviously doing very well and popular but seriously...watch the trailers for both and you will find your answer.
 
I would wait for reviews to be honest. The only games I am getting at launch are Knack (bundle) and Madden 25. Everything else I am waiting for reviews since the PS3 has 3 FPS's at launch. I am 100% positive though that Ghosts will have a huge player base.
 
May I suggest Killzone 4? I think the MP is underrated in KZ3. I combine the best of BF and CoD series IMO. You have classes like Medic and sniper but with smaller maps and no vehicles. If you have a PS3 you can try (up to a certain rank) KZ3 MP for free.
 
I have no idea how you people can play such a fast paced shooter as BF3/BF4 with console controls. Yes, I suck :)
 
Personally, i really enjoy the amazingly cheesy story mode of the call of duty games, but for multiplayer i prefer BF...

To each their own tho :p

Again, i recognize that the story is cheesy as hell, i just enjoy the absolutely improbable fantasy of it all.

i've played battlefield since 2002 and cod since it dethroned metal of honor: in the end they are both simply the next iteration of what they do (seemingly) lacking any real rethinking or creativity. i don't think bf4 is gamebreaking in any way - it's the same thing we had with bf3 with a few additions. both operate on the same business model of selling maps and weapons as pricey dlc content (no wonder why modding ended).
 
Aren't they coming out for current generation consoles before Nov 15th? Gamefly?

It will most likely just be a resolution bump and possiblly higher textures. BF4 should be much higher quality on next gen but i doubt COD will be much different

Mehh... I think I'll wait for Titanfall and see if it ends up as fun as the developers claim. COD feels like they're stagnating and don't know where to take the series, and I've never been a fan of Battlefield.

Titanfall is not on PS4 (yet). Just 360, XB1 and PC.
 
From a technical standpoint BF is years ahead of COD, regardless of how much they are hyping up advancements in Ghosts. Frostbite 3 versus a heavily modified Quake 3 engine is no contest.

Game play wise they aren't really similar other than both being FPS games, but I prefer BF much more than COD. COD is basically a casual twitchy shooter, BF is much more varied and tends to be more tactical.
 
BF4. Been in the COD boat since the beginning and once I played BF3, I never looked back. Way better gameplay, more immersive environments. Really looking forward to BF4.

Really depends what game style you like, like what the previous poster said. COD is more of a fast twitch shooter versus BF being more strategic. Decide what you like and roll with it. Both new iterations will follow the same lines so I would not expect anything different.
 
BF series is much more strategic and better for my old ass. Learning the maps is 50% of the game. You see some tards make the same mistake over and over though.
 
BF is slower gameplay with way larger maps, I can't get into it at all so I play COD

This is due to the fact BF has dedicated servers and can dish out way more pixels on your screen versus CoD which has NO dedicated servers and is the reason we always see 'Host Migrations' when the host rage quits.
 
I'm not getting either. I rather get Killzone Shadow fall. It looks fresh and amazing.

I'm not into the whole giant map fps thing. I got to admit though when that building fell down i was like holy fuck! It's a little too slow for me though and I find it kinda boring other than the amazing graphics from the frost bite engine.

COD is nothing but the same shit. I'm going to just wait on Treyarch to announce BO3 at least i'll have a next gen zombies mode to look forward to.

I'm sure it won't be anything like that this time... we got X86 on our side...lol.
 
i wish there was a bf3 with COD pace. That would be the perfect FPS
 
err BF3 have a match call deathmatch. Isn't that similar to COD type of gameplay

I think the maps are stil larger, the closest I have seen was the 2nd expansion I think?
 
for the PS4 I got CoD:Ghosts instead. I don't think I'll be playing BF4 this round even on PC.
 
Bf4 beta on ps3 is nothing impressive, feels the same.
As what others say, wait for reviews.
I'm done waiting in line for a COD game,loll
 
I prefer COD over BF. BF is an awesome franchise no doubt.

I just always felt that COD had a more tactile and crisp feel to it than BF ever has.

BF has always felt a bit on the sluggish side.

Yeah I played that Cannals map on BF3 that was the most fun I had on the game. I think this is the problem with games like Guild Wars 2 the maps are sooo big you don't see anyone for a while so you wonder why this is a online game to begin with....

I think I'm going to pick up COD over battlefield =) Just because of all the bad experiences I had with BF3 I uninstalled BF3 so I could play planetside 2 which was hella fun at launch.

This.

I do not HATE on CoD, but graphically, the game is junk and can run very well on consoles, gamestyle wise, I like the fast-paced action.

BF I like to play when I dilly-dally a lot, but I also LOVE the graphics of BF series so I stick with BF on PC's. Now if only I could use a kb/mouse on a console! :)

Killzone has the unfortunate distinction of being a really good FPS game that no one really wants. KZ2 and KZ3 are some of my favorite FPS games, but very few people play them online. Then when they do play, they bitch a lot about how the characters aren't as fast as COD or how BF games have better vehicles and teamwork.

I am picking up KZ:SF at launch, however I know that if I just want to go online and shoot as many online players as possible, BF4 or COD are better options. For that matter I expect both games to outsell KZ on the PS4 even though they are multiplatform titles.
