[H]ot: Refurb'd HP ZR30w IPS for $670USD

Well now there's stuck blue pixel - only shows up on black - any other color its gone. Hopefully no more show up, but its not really noticeable.

Damn I am really tempted. I have been looking for a nice 30 .. this the 3011 or the 3014 ..:(

Update on my problems:

I just got done with HP CS. Now that their system is up they're advanced RMAing me a replacement, which should be here in 2-3 business days. Took all of 5 minutes on the phone. Easiest RMA I've ever filed for. Kudos to HP.

Get it. It's not like you're going to be sitting there thinking "Wow, this is immense. I regret buying it".

I have the older LP3065 and it is easily the best computer related purchase I've made.

true but i dont want to deal with dead pixels or light bleed

Did you not read the above post about how insanely easy an Advance RMA is? I had to do this in the past with HP SMB as well, and it was painless..Get it..If you don't like, I am sure you could resell it and break even, maybe even make a tad bit..

Again, I will pointlessly bitch and moan about this being CCFL only..I needz the LED..:(

I'm holding out for an LED even though I don't "need" LED.

I keep delaying my monitor upgrade. At first I considered the 30's out of my price range as I was looking at Korean imports or their rebranded US knockoffs, but then every time I was about to pull the trigger I decided I need something just a little bit better...and up my price range a bit. Now it's to the point where refurbed 30's aren't a big stretch above a quality 27. Colors, stand, grey balance, etc.

First it was the stand. If I bought a cheap monitor I'd have to get buy an aftermarket stand, so I figured, I could get a better panel AND stand if I just included that in my monitor budget....etc, etc. I promise it's a cool story bro.

Coming from someone that just switched to this from a 27'' Korean monitor, this is a VERY nice upgrade! And it not being an LED isn't an issue - it looks awesome!

In for 1, these are almost half the price of the ZR30W I bought off of amazon about a year ago.

Gonna have to much screen real-estate with 2 of these, I know its unnecessary, but I like unnecessary.

How long is the warranty on this?

Warranty is a year from when the reseller acquired the unit. In serials observed so far from this reseller this amounts to 9-10 months for consumers...From what I've been able to ascertain from HP, you can purchase an extra 3 years of overage.

So...almost convinced myself to buy this one. Not too many downsides other than CCFL backlight using a bit more power. Does anyone know if they replace the CCFL tube as part of the refurb process? If not, there's not really any way of knowing how many hours will be on the one you get. Also can you check the power on hours of the monitor in any way?

Not to my knowledge, there is absolutely no OSD to tell you something like that.

You're not going to run the monitor at full brightness anyway. I run mine about half.

I've had the same monitor for a few months. Not buying a 30" sooner is the dumbest computer-related decision I've made in a long time.

Got this thing about 1.5 days from when I ordered it. Haven't been home yet to check it out, but that's damn good shipping.

Still going strong. Got a stuck blue pixel that only shows up on black - ideas to get rid of it?

Have you tried massaging the pixel gently?

FWIW, my replacement panel is still going strong. The one I got back from HP has less of an immediate warranty than the first, but other than that...everything works as advertised, and still no stuck pixels here.

I will stay strong, pay the bills, and not get one of these together with 2x 4:3 20" monitors.... :D
